After surgery..
Hey ladies i had my ba last wednesday and am healing every day, after surgery i was immediatly put in my sports bra (34dd ) with the incisions (under breast) covered with gauze and tole not to shower until my check up. I have my check up tomorow and just wondered when everyone else was allowed to shower?and also does every one have dissolvable stitches as i wasnt told n im hoping she ant gonna rip them out tomorow!x

Re: After surgery..
I think if I remember rightly I was able to shower about 10 days after surgery once my gauze strips were removed. My surgeon said to dry the incision sites with a hairdryer on cool setting until they were fully dry. xxx

Re: After surgery..
They will check your scars to make sure they have closed enough for you to have a nice shower. Not everyone has dissolvable stitches, but they would have told you if they weren't and needed to be removed. I wasn't allowed to shower for 14 days (had removable stitches), I wasn't allowed a soak in the bath for 6 weeks

Re: After surgery..
I would seriously try and hold out hun - damp, moist areas is where infection just loves to breed - you don't want to end up with a nasty infection, that's why surgeons advise against it. I would at least wait until your scars are FULLY closed, no scabs or open wounds at all. xxx

My dad used them when he had a tube sticking out his chest which went into his heart & he was on chemo so was at risk of infection... so they are safe... Im going to hold out for a few weeks at least until my stitches are gone.
I NEVER shower. I have this thing about getting water in my face so I cant not have a bath for 6 weeks lol

Re: After surgery..
I had a check up at 10 days where the one pull out stitch was removed and I didn't feel a thing as I was still numb there but the internal stitches were dissolvable. At 10 days I got the all clear to have a shower and was in there for about an hour. It was heaven!!!!!! It's murder not being able to shower for 10 days and not bath for 6 weeks but it's worth following surgeons advice.

Re: After surgery..
Hi mine were atomatically covered with plastic coating? which went right up to my nipple and about a good 3 inches past my scar. I could shower straight away. I saw the nurse after a week and she took it off ouch hurt more than the bruising then replaced it with a new one and said i could have a bath just have the water lower than the scars. This maybe the type of covering you have. Check if your not sure xxx

Re: After surgery..
I had shallow baths every day after my op, making sure not to get water anywhere near my breasts, then just did my armpits with a wringed out flannel

Re: After surgery..
I had to wait 1 week. After my first check up the nurse took my dressings off and said I was ok to shower but no baths. I do love a good soak in the bath but to be honest it was so lovely to get a shower I didn't mind x

Re: After surgery..
I think I am having a waterproof dressing which means I can shower straight away - but had a lovely long soak in the bath this morning just in case.
Alt Barbie I used to be like you and hate showers - I would have a long soak and then just stand up quickly to wash hair in shower, but now I swim most mornings I have got used to showering and washing hair in showers at pool - my husband complains that when we did out bathroom I took months of looking and lying in baths in showrooms and now ours is almost redundant!
Did feel funny having a bath this morning with NO BUBBLE BATH as not allowed to use any toiletries that are fragrant as today is BIG XMAS BOOBY DAY! xx
