Meds after breast augmentation
Hi all
Nads has just given me a good idea about setting an alarm every 4 hours for my meds. Just wondering, did you do this throught the night at first too, or just in the daytime?
And also for all of you post-op ladies - what did you take? Did the hospital prescribe you something quite strong at first? I don't want to take codeine as I don't want the tummy probs that go with it....that was the worst thing about having my wisdom teeth out - it was agony. So will they prescribe me something else, and how long will I take that for, roughly?
I've bought supplies of paracetamol & ibruprofen but I'm guessing I'll need something stronger for the first few days? After having my second baby (had a third degree tear & episiotomy - ouch!) I took something beginning with D, which apparently is the same as Voltarol, which I notice you can buy over the counter now. That seemed really good. I think it's what they prescribe for C-sections.
Anyway, any advice on pain relief would be fantastic if you don't mind, girls

Re: Meds after breast augmentation
Your anaesthetist/ps should prescribe you with something hun, it usually is co-codamol/codiene unfortunately but i didnt even need it, he said only take it if you're having a really bad day-which i never did! I just took 2 ibuprofen and 1 paracetomal every 4 hours.
I wouldnt wake up in the night to take it but i would take it right before i went to sleep. It would've been good to wake myself and take it as the morning boob ache was bad for the first 2-3 days. Some ps dont recommend ibuprofen until 2 weeks later so write down what they say is ok to take.

Hey there,
I can't take codeine, so I told the hospital this & they gave me 400mg Ibuprofen instead (to take one tablet, three times a day). In all honesty though, I haven't needed it :-)

I hate codene, or co-anything to be honest. I only took two paracetamol and two iproprufen whenever i felt like I needed it.
I still have a full pack of codene left!
As long as you don't overdo it you should be ok with just paracetamol and ibro.

I cant remember what i was given ive got the empty packets somewhere though lol, but i had 3 lots of tablets. Pain killers, anti-inflammatory & antiobiotics. Took the antiobiotics for a week (finished the full course) & the others for a little longer. I wasnt in much pain though & I didnt wake up through the night, just took them every 4 hours x
