swollen hot and tenderrrr
ok so back from my first checkup with the nurse today , and my right breast is swollen, the nipple is tender.. whats worrying me the most is that it is hot and really itchy!..
also i had the patches off the scars today. (inframmary incision) asked the nurse if i should put bio oil under now.. she said not yet and no creams for now??..is that right??the stitches are still there.. .
any advice would be appreciated

no hun you should not put ANYTHING on your scars until you have the go ahead from your nurse/sugeon. This is usually around the 6 week mark. With the swelling it is probably part of the normal healing process but if you are concerned you must speak to your surgeon. If it is nothing to be worried about ice packs/frozen peas help the heat/swelling. x

Re: swollen hot and tenderrrr
Hi hun, the girls and nurse are right, you shouldn't put anything on your scars just yet. Wait until you have the go ahead. 8 days is very early, so swelling is very likely still and normal. The heat, is it like a sun burn type of heat and itch? As this is probably the skin stretching. You can put cream on your boobs to help with the itchy feeling. A nice moisturiser is good, just make sure you dont get it anywhere near your scars.
Re: swollen hot and tenderrrr
Definitely nothing on your scars yet hun, 8 days is still very very early. I had that hot itchy feeling on my boobs which was the skin stretching. My boobs actually felt warmer to the touch. Moisturiser will help with that, just keep it away from your scars.

Re: swollen hot and tenderrrr
If your breast is hot to the touch Jamie and you feel it's excessively swollen, you should contact your surgeon/clinic as soon as possible - A feeling of heat from the breast (hot sensation) and swelling is perfectly normal in your recovery, but if the breast actually feels hot/looks red/excessively swollen this early post-op you should get that checked out as soon as you can babe.
Do not put any creams, oils or lotions on your scars this early post-op as they could cause infection. xx

Glad it's better Jamie, I had the same thing and it was all ok, but like Cookie says it's a good idea to get these things checked out, especially so soon after surgery.
But since yours has resolved itself anyway it was obviously nothing to worry about. xx
