Pre-op preparation
Hi Girls!
Well this time next week I will have my lovely new editions :)
I am just in the process of getting everything organised for my recovery, so far I have;
- lots of new pillows (to keep my propped up)
- button-up dresses
- straws
- coke (as i hear it helps with an upset stomach)
- microwave meals
I was just wondering if there are any other handy hints people want to share that helped with their recovery? I have quite a weak stomach so i am thinking about getting anti-sickness tablets???
Thanks in advance ladies :)

Re: Pre-op preparation
Hi huni :)
I found the sickness worse than the boob pain. Although, I don't think you can take the anti-sickness pills with some of the painkillers & anti-inflammatories that they give you. Coke DID help, after Abbie told me about it. I think it's just any fizzy pop though, not specifically Coke. It's really difficult when you're feeling sick, but eating a little something really does help. I had toast with my medications, it was awful at first but it does really help with the sickness later.
You'll also need DVD's, magazines, books etc as you won't be able to do much for the first few days. I managed to get out for a little walk on the 4th day, it was exhausting!
Baby wipes are a must. You can't shower properly so you'll feel dirty. I bought Batiste too, but in the end, my greasy hair was the last thing on my mind.
Have a few sets of PJ's clean ready to change into, you'll be living in them for a few days.
Senakot, or whatever you think helps you to go to the toilet. You'll be constipated and bloated. I was in a lot of pain with my stomach. I started drinking those pro-biotic yogurt drinks, like Actimel (think mine were called Vitality) and they really helped to get my digestive system back on track. I'm so impressed that I'm still drinking them now and am going to continue doing so.
Set your room/living room (where ever you'll be spending most your time) up in a way that's convenient.. i.e. keep everything important low down. Like the TV Remotes, your laptop/charger, cups/plates, tea/coffee etc.
I'm sure you'll have someone looking after you but there is going to be a time when they're not around and you need something.
One last thing, see if your hospital has free WiFi. Mine did, and I only found out when I was leaving! There was plenty of time I could have wasted on the internet!
This is so long, I'm supposed to be 'working' haha x x
