This sounds very odd to me. I've never heard of this before...with all the science out there today im pretty sure they would have done more research on this if it were a serious cause for concern! x

I had 3 tattoos done withy last implants all at different times of course and with a reputable totoo artist and I never had any problems.

I'm just going to put this out there and say I think this is a load of dung! I wonder if this is his way of taking the responsibility off of himself...you think about how many woman have tattoos..more than not! so if he is running his practice based on woman not getting tattoos well then he is going to have to do very few corrections, and I'm sure his reop statts look pretty good:( and just out of curiosity are these drs taking full body pics to make sure you dont get any new tattoos hmmm??

Ooh this made for an interesting read.
I had booked on for one of my tatts to be reworked in a couple of weeks (before I booked my BA)
And was obviously going to postpone it but thinking the further off the better now.
Going to ask my surgeon this morning how long I have to wait before having tattoos and piercings x

My consultation PS said to me that, should I have any scars, theres lots of things that could be done to improve the appearance and one of them could be cosmetic tattoo-ing Tattoos cause Capsular Contraction - Page 2 751387

Girls I asked my surgeon at my 6 week check up about getting a tattoo and a tattoo altered would that be ok as worried about it causing any probs with my boobs, he said tattoos are ok won't affect boobs, he then asked me where I was thinking of having it done on my body with a raised eyebrow I said don't worry not on my tits Hysterical

He laughed and said don't worry it. I trust him 100% so having mine sorted out next month.

And bouncydd has a great point there!!!!! Reconstructive surgery following cancer where the nipples are taken away are tattooed back on, if there was enough proof to this surely they wouldn't be doing it.

It does seem interestin but also hopin its a pile of rubbish. Im hopin to get another piercing and my tattoo on my leg started around xmas time. Hope i still can as i put off gettin my tattoo done before ba as it wasnt enough time to have it finished and healed before my ba. I have a few big tattoos and my surgeon never mentioned a problem about me gettin anymore after my ba, think ile only be bothered if theres actual scientific proof. Xx

I think that if your going to get CC then its going to happen, I had textured under the muscle implants and stuck to the rule book before and afterwards and got grade III xx

Is their any set time where u know u won't get cc??
If u haven't got it by 6 mth u won't??
Or is it an ongoing threat??

From what I understand in the case of both Tattoos and Dental work some Dr's say this as precaution due to the risk of infection and/or bacteria being released in to the blood stream. CC is one of those things that is more or less pre-determined by your body/genetics, nothing *causes* it as such as we all have it, a capsuke is normal, it's just a case of how fast that capsule shrinks and hardens. I think sometimes blame for causes things is thrown around because it's frustrating not having a cause if that makes sense. From the research I have done, which is a LOT I would say tattoos/dental offer an extremely low risk if any at all as if this were true you could also say infections, colds, flu, cuts, scrapes, wound infections, infected spots ect ect all cause CC, which clearly, they don't!

Sahara, as far as I know CC can happen at any time, there's no time you're 'in the clear' unfortunately. x

you can get CC at a day a month a year 10 year 20 years its an ongoing risk that can happen at anytime to anyone

I read alot about CC as it was the main concern for me and then after I had CC I read up on it alot more as I got interested

I can't see how this can be true, women who have breast reductions have the nipple areolas tattooed soon after the surgery. X

after having quite a high grade of CC I dont alot of research on it and questioned my surgeon and another surgeon about it

like kaydee said we would have so many people worrying over colds etc etc

As I said we all get some sort of CC and then its depends how well the body deals with scar tissue etc as to how well it deals with the scar arround the implant, but again it might harden over the years it might not harden at all, its one of the risks of a BA xx
