Bottoming out PIP implants
Hi everyone, I have the dreaded PIP implants that need to be removed as I have possible rupture (I am still waiting for my ultrasound though), I am in a lot of pain and discomfort, but also with recent discoveries I now realise my operation will be more complicated. I have 'bottoming out' which means the implant falls lower inside the body, my nipples are too high up so they don't look natural at all. This can be complicated to correct - I may have to have my implants out for 12 weeks or more for the body to heal before having implants put back in otherwise the new implants could drop straight down again (can't bear to think of not having implants in!).
This could be due to the PIP's, or my small frame, or my surgeon for over dissecting the implant pocket during surgery. I knew that my breasts haven't looked right for a long time, but I didn't think there was a term for it!
I have a consultation with Simon Withey on the 28th Oct so I hope it goes well and he can give me some good news! I was hoping to go bigger this time, I have always felt quite flat because of the 'stuck on' look my breasts now have, so I would like to go fuller and a bit bigger. Not only do I have to deal with the fact that I have banned PIP's in my body - that could be leaking and caused me permanent damage - but now I have to worry about the fact that I will have 'bottoming out' breasts so an even more complicated op than I thought! Spent last night awake and crying, and told my hubby not to touch my breasts until they're sorted. So unhappy.....

Re: Bottoming out PIP implants
Hi Hannah, i too have pip implants and understand the dilema you are going through. Think positive that you are going to get rid of them and that 12 weeks will fly by, it will allow for your body and your mind to improve and give you time to focus. Have you gone back to your original surgeon? Have you had more than one opinion? Shop around get as much free advise as possible. Keep your husband close, tell him how you feel, keep him involved. i started to push my husband away, then realised yeah hes a man and probably doesnt realise how i feel, but i poured my heart out and he was fantastic. Keep strong, keep smiling, lift your head up and think i can and will beat this. sherri x

Hey Hannah7666...chin up girl and look forward to your consultation with mr withey and see how that goes. It may not be that you have to go without your implants for 12 week. At least your resolving the problems that you have. I have a ruptured left implant and suspected ruptured right implant and at the minute i can relate to how you feel regarding hubbie and boobies,I have resorted to leaving my bra on for bed, mine are rapidly losing volume and rippling is becoming really visible, looking forward to re-op in jan...x

Re: Bottoming out PIP implants
Hi ladies
Sorry for the late reply! Thank you both for your support. I am trying to be more positive at the moment, it's hard as I'm in a lot of pain but I just can't wait to get them out! I don't think i'll be able to have my op now until January, I don't want to wait that long! Bet you can't wait now Sharon!
Sherri I haven't gone back to my original surgeon I'm angry at him for putting these PIP's in me. Going to see another surgeon with My breast in just over 2 weeks, who has good reviews. My husband is being really great and so supportive, but I just don't want him to see my boobs at the moment, and I really don't want him to feel them as they are so lumpy and feel horrible. Have you had your PIP's replaced?
Sorry to hear you've both got PIP's girls.
Sharon, where are you having yours replaced?
xx

Re: Bottoming out PIP implants
Hi hannah...like yourself, I have decided not to go back to my original surgeon for a number of reasons. I did go back to see him in july but came away feeling like the consultation was a waste of time...he didnt examine me...wanted £4000 for re-op...told me the reason he used pips was because they were the only implants with a warranty! Anyway, after lots of research,I went for a consultation with Dr.Liew Mybreast in August. He gave a really good consultation and made me feel a lot more positive but unfortunatly I was still £700 short of the cost. On the strength of knowing i could have the money together by November he did give me some dates, leaving the ball in my court. Trouble is,its been really hard to get the money together lately...car problems...kids...etc...So if i get re-op done in november it means withdrawing ALL our savings. Ive ended up paying my deposit and booking for 20th jan...it seems time off and i am getting really visible signs of rupture now,but as another BJSF Member said..."time flies". Hey Hannah...roll on january...xxx

Re: Bottoming out PIP implants
Hi Hannah, i have two choices, to go with original company different surgeon (as mine left) for £2500 with (10 year implant warranty, but 6 months after care) on the 16th of December or £4,400 with (10 years implant warranty and lifetime aftercare) on 17th December with another company. just have to work out which is better. Going for consultation again on thursday re 17th december one and then on 22nd october for 16th december one, so very unsure still. All i know is cant wait. keep your chin up, it will fly by x
