drains??
Hi, just wondering if it is standard to have drains after a ba/uplift? I have read sometimes where people haven't had them and that this is the sign of a good surgeon - is this true or a load of rubbish? thanks! xx

Re: drains??
I am not an expert I'm afraid but.....I had a lollipop uplift and BA 5 weeks ago with Dr Frati...who I think is an awesome surgeon!
He always uses drains and I had no problem with them. Quite horrible having them pulled out but apart from that I think they were fine.
I have heard people say good surgeons use them so who knows really! It's a mindfield!!!!
Maybe someone else will come along and share more wisdom for you hun xx

Re: drains??
Some surgeons use them, some dont, I dont think it's a sign of a good or bad surgeon. Some say having drains helps reduce swelling and the risk of heamatoma others say it increases the risk of infection having an open wound. It's just surgeons preference.
Re: drains??
I am having my ba and uplift in 11 days, and my doc is using drains he says that for any uplift or any large implant (over 500) And I am both that he uses drains. The reason being the more "work" done in the breast the more fluid, blood and stuff there is and it is better out than in... he said having the drains will make for quicker recovery because there will be less swelling ect.

Re: drains??
I didn't have drains. I think it's a matter of surgeons preference

Re: drains??
It is a surgeons preference hun, that's what the nurse told me when I had mine done. I had them and it wasn't a problem. xx

Re: drains??
Hi, I didn't have any drains, as my Surgeon doesn't use them.
As others have said, it's a Surgeons preference whether to use them or not. It doesn't mean one is better than the other.
