sports bra alternative
Well my op is in 4days time... argghhhh and i will be in sports bras for a very very long time :( (6 months maybe more)
I was in marks and sparks today and i seen a full support soft cup bra, built like a sports bra but easier to wear under tops. has anyone ditched the sports bras and wore bras like this?
thanks ladies x

Nope... I followed the surgeons instructions to the letter babe, hoping that way to get the very best from my recovery. xx

Re: sports bra alternative
some sports bras are more discreet than others. I found a couple that were fine under most tops

Re: sports bra alternative
I stuck with the sports bras for my required three months but was allowed to wear a non-wired bra for special occasions (M&S do a moulded soft-cup bra without wires). Considering what you're going through and the money that you're paying it's not as much of a sacrifice as you'd think. Plus you have the benefit of having your op done now which means you'll be covered up most of the time with the cold weather anyway, lol!!
I was advised to wear the Z-bra which is quite low cut (and really bloomin' expensive as well unfortunately!) but it meant that I could still wear low cut v-neck tops. I just had to be careful that the tops weren't too wide open on the shoulders as the straps are quite wide and would show (nobody ever commented if they did show through though).
Hope all goes well xx

Re: sports bra alternative
Hi Hun,
My Consultant and Breat Care Nurses have all said stick with the sports bra for how long is recommended as it will make all the differnce. They have all said it really doesn't matter what type of sports bra - the £4 Asda ones are fine unless you are doing excercise then you'll need a better one.
You can actually get some quite nice ones, LaSenza do a nice pink one. Hope this helps

Re: sports bra alternative
I wore mine for the full 3 months, after 2 months i did take it off at night though, was nice to take it off for a bit and surgeon said it would be fine after this time. It is all worth it in the end x

Re: sports bra alternative
Sara after week 1 my surgeon's advise was that I could wear a sports bra or a very good unwired bra offering strong support. They actually said they recommend M&S total support as a good alternative!!
I stayed in my sports til about week 4 and then wore total support and alternated with my sports bras, depending on what i felt like wearing! xx
