First week - no Bra?
Hi girls!
My first post-op (YEI) question here....
I have been told not to wear a bra at all for the first week, anyone else had this?
And also, my boobs are rock-hard and high/pointy. I am supposed to be back at work on monday, will they still be like this or will they have settled at least a little?
Thanks

Re: First week - no Bra?
Hey lovely! Welcome to the world of post-op questions!
I had a lot of strapping and tape keeping me all in one peice after the op, but I was told to wear a sports bra. Each surgeon is different, so just go with what yours has advised.
My boobs were quite pointy for the first few weeks, and my nips were on show the whole time! They settled down quickly though. I had overs, so it may take a bit longer with unders as the muscle has to get used to the shape of the new implants.

Re: First week - no Bra?
Hi hun, my ps said that it's up to me whether I want to wear a sports bra, depending on how comfortable I was with or without, and that applied from the first week. He thinks that wearing a bra or not doesn't interfer in the healing process. I haven't heard of surgeons sayng that you actually cannot wear one at the beginning, but that is to show that not all surgeons suggest the same think (as in: you have to wear a bra day and night for 6 weeks) so follow his advice and you'll be fine!
Your boobs will probably still be hard and high after 1 week but they will feel less uncomfortable. i suggest for work you wear slightly baggier clothes at the beginning so you don't feel too self-conscious of your pointy boobs!
xx

Re: First week - no Bra?
Welcome back and congrats again hun glad you're feeling good, i dont think for the first week it'll make much difference if you wear a bra or not as most of the first week is spent taking it easy (i hope!), different surgeons have different post op advice so theres not right or wrong in some areas.
By Monday you may see some changes, hopefully they wont be as high and pointy but everyone is different xxx

I wore a sports bra after my op and for 3 months after. My boobs were hard and pointy at 1 week post op but settled quite quickly after that and stopped looking so pointy x

Hey welcome back sweetie glad all went well.
I have never heard of no bra at all, always thought it was support bra but all surgeons have different advice so best to do as told xx

Welcome to the other side, I had strapping on for a week and sports bra. All surgeons do seem to differ in instructions. I would have felt odd without one and 'nipples' showing can be embaressing. Shape changes soo much in first few weeks. All sounds normal healing process.

Re: First week - no Bra?
Hey TinyMe
I didn't wear a bra while healing which surprised me because I had heard all the other girls talking about having to wear one. After my one week check SW told me that I didn't need to wear a bra but could wear one if I wanted, which I did else I'd have been poking peoples eyes out!!!!
I just wore a very loose fitting comfy sports bra.

Re: First week - no Bra?
Thanks girls!
Maria, It seems SW don't think bra is necessary the first week. I know he wants me to wear a sports bra for three months after the first week, but atm I only have "tape" over the scars, nothing else! I am really happy with this, it feels good to have them "au naturel" lol!
I have my one week check up on monday and I am told to bring my sportsbra to that...after it I will go straight to work. I need that bra to fit, if it doesn't I need to "tape down" my nipples, cause like Roxychick, I might make someone blind with them
