Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
I don't think it's that you can't it's probably more that you will not feel up to it, and the pain meds can knock you about, will someone else be with you?

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
My post-op instructions contained advice from Transform, not to fly immediately after surgery, the reason for this is because you're at risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
You can read HERE about flying after surgery.
Note this part -

You can read HERE about flying after surgery.
Note this part -
Your risk of DVT from flying is:
* high: if you’ve had surgery in the last four weeks under general anaesthetic (painkilling medication that makes you unconscious) for at least 30 minutes

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
It states that you can't fly even short haul for 2 weeks with mine and long haul for 6 weeks. x

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
I think it's mainly the risk of DVT is heightened because the wound will be filled with fresh blood that needs to be absorbed back into your body which can take a couple of weeks.
Yes do keep us posted hunny. xx

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
booked in on tuesday to speak to my surgeon..the care co-ordinator again said its totaly safe because its a 40min flight and i could be at higher risk of DVT sitting on a 6hr train journey home.
Most patients with THG fly after surgery and they wouldnt advise me to do so if it was putting me at risk.
still im going in on tue to speak to my surgeon about this, he was to busy to speak to me on the phone today :(
i really need to sort this out its getting too close now... if it comes to it my bfriend could drive me dwn and back it just complicates things with the kids and stuff everyone who could look after them has work or their on holiday :( and wouldnt even ask most of my friend tbh they have enough with there own kids lol
so as for now im still confussed.com x

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
hey hun I work as a nurse in critical care and with any sugery we advise a min of 2 weeks post surgey to fly because of the increase of DVT ..... you can get in flight socks to help prevent this but tbh not really sure the risk reduction percentage .....your flight is very short and much less a risk. Good luck chick and let me know how you get on xxx

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
I was told no short flights for 2weeks and no long flights for 6weeks. Its cos of DVT as your more at risk when you have had an op. xx

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
Anna i had my BA and had to fly home the next morn no probs!! it was the same for me either 6 hrs in the car or 1hr in the air... no brainer for me i wanted home asap! and my surgeon confirmed that it was safe for me to fly so soon after my OP.
he also gave me a "Fit to Fly Note" and i wore flight sock just to be safe
aslong as your surgeon says u can fly home i wouldnt worry hun :good:
good luck x

Re: FLYING HOME AFTER BA??
if its inland you probably wouldnt be flying at the same altitude as flights further afield. Maybe thats why they say its alright

Hey anna
tbh it was fine hun just a little funny taking off with new massive boobies that i didnt have the day before lol "mind over matter" but other than that a normal flight :good:
after surgery the nurses will take care of you and keep you toped up with pain releif dont worry about that
honestley i didnt find it over the top painful just a little uncomfterble!
i was on the phone all ngt after my op soo excited i had done it!
you should read some of the BA storys on the forum i was obsessed with them just before my op lol its nice to get a feel of other peoples experiences and what to expect and stuff
