What percentage of BA ops result in complications?
Hi everyone.
I am coming around to making a decision about having my boobs done. Have found this forum brilliant.
On reading this section about various complications, it has made me slightly nervous. I just wondered if there are any stats to show what percentage of BA ops give rise to complications?
If anyone has any info regarding this I would find it very useful.
Thanks girls,
Lou x.

Re: What percentage of BA ops result in complications?
I believe the complications rate is 24%
breaking it down (I don't know them all)
hematoma 3-4% will be dealt with straight away
infection is less than 1% will need a re op
permanent numbness 15% (includes lessening sensation)
other possible complications are: (I don't know the % as it can change)
Capsular Contracture (hardening of scar tissue around implant) - can happen at any time - can be corrected with 2nd surgery
Displacement - can be corrected
Keloid (heavy scar) - scar revision surgery
Rippling - can be major or minor depending on severity may need a re op
Seroma - can be corrected
Rupture - will need a re op - can happen any time
Symmastia - will need a re op
As you can see there are a few possible complications that may need correction should they occur, however most complications occur very quickly and with good aftercare with your clinic will correct these for you, but with CC and rupture you will only be covered by your clinic for the period of your aftercare, should they arise later you will have to pay. Most of the people who have had complications would still have had the surgery, it's just an unfortunate thing that even with the best surgeon in the world complications can still arise, but most can be rectified quite quickly.

Thanks for that very comprehensive answer misf1. It is quite daunting when considering all the things that can go wrong, but as long as they can be fixed its not the end of the world.
By the way I am off to Cyprus as well on Wed morning from East Midlands Airport. Where do u fly from?
Thanks again,
Lou x.
