Washing my hair afer surgery?
Hi girls,
How long does it normally take before you can wash your own hair again?
I can't stand having greasy hair so it's going to drive me mad. I'm thinking of booking myself into the salon 6 days post-op, will I make it there ok?
If I get my boyf to wash & dry it for me, I'll end up like a cross between a scare-crow and Viv Windsor from Emmerdale. He'll also probably blind me in the process.
xx

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
This was a concern for me too, I have to wash my hair everyday no matter what! My boyfriend helped me the first 2 days then I could do it myself with the shower attachment over the bath. It really was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be x

Thanks Hattie,
Wow 3 days and you could wash your own hair? I thought I wouldn't be able to lift my arms up for the first week or so!

Everyone heals at different rates, but for me it was only the first couple of days i couldn't lift my arms very high. Don't get me wrong it wasn't that easy but I just took my time and it was fine - I gave up asking my boyf to do it for me it was easier just doing it myself!

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
i managed to wash my own hair over the side of the bath with the showerhead, the day after surgery. It was no problem, but my hair is fairly short so its not a mammoth task

I have to say I was a lot more 'mobile' than I thought I was going to be - you can move your arms and lift them but its just not that comfortable to so you tend to do it as little as possible.

Yes I'll use Batiste for the first 2 days but then it will be past the point of desperate. I suppose I won't really be going out of the house anyway..
I'll definately book that salon visit for the end of the week though, thanks girls xx

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
I've not managed to wash my hair yet! I've booked myself in to my hair dressers tues afternoon to get my hair washed and I can't wait!
At the moment I feel like I'm struggling a bit. My left arm is a lot more mobile / less painful than my right, I'm sure that's because I'm right handed and my right muscle is stronger than the left! X

I bet it is CJA, my left arm is a lot weaker than my right too. I'm trying to build up srength in the gym at the moment.
Have you considered using one of those 'Power Balls'? You don't need to lift your arm up, but it exercises the muscles all up your arm..
I'm going with Harley Medical too, in Manchester.. How did you find them?
xx

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
Hi Tanya! I've found Harley medical to be really good. I'm with the southampton clinic. I even had a change of heart re my size of implants 3 days before my op and they were really good with it all. Xx

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
I managed to wash my hair the day after surgery too. I just kneeled on the floor and leaned over the bottom of the shower and used the shower-hose. It's more a case of leaning your head down than reaching up with your arms... If that makes sense?

Hi Minxie,
Yes that makes sense, the lower your head the less you have to lift your arms.. So basically, get as low as I can! Thanks huni xxx

Re: Washing my hair afer surgery?
i was pretty lucky. no bending over the tub - i was able to shower on day 2 - doc said just not to saturate the incisions. i put glad press-and-seal wrap over the nice and firm boobies and it stuck like a charm and showered away. OH had to wash that day, but i was good to go after...it was just a slower process.
