Hi girls,

I'm just wondering how long I will have to wait before using my normal products on my skin again post-op? How long before I can get a spray tan done? I'm soooo pale hehe.

Also, I know you're supposed to wear a sports bra for a few months post-op.. but would it hurt to wear a normal bra once or twice (just for nights out) ??

Thanks,

Tan xx

As far as I know you have to wait til wounds are closed and healed before using anything on them. Personally I wouldn't wear a normal bra until been told it's okay by my surgeon, but you need to take your surgeons advice hun. I always think there's no point spending lots of money on your How long post-op before I can use my skin creams? 156694 and then not doing everything possible to look after them.

Hi hun, in general you can use your moisturising products straight away, but do not get them on scars. You will be told by your surgeon when you can put anything like bio oil on scars. The skin on your boobs will be stretched so will be sensitive plus for a while your skin may be quite flaky on your chest so probably no good for a spray tan for a little while. As for bras you may be in a sports bra 24/7 for 6-12 weeks (maybe less) your surgeon will inform you how long. I wouldn't wear an underwired bra during this time as it may disrupt your new boobs healing.

Thank you girls.
I might start applying bio-oil now (my op is 25th Sept) it might help prepare my skin for the stretching.

I don't know what I'm going to do about this bra situation when I'm out at night, they're so unglamorous! xx

The sports bra is somewhat of a torture advice but I got some good advice from Cookie....she reminded me that I had just spent a ton of money on my new boobies and why would I waste that for a night out??? Also you will be quite sore for a while and the dreaded sports bra helps you heal properly. As for creams, be careful....you will have scars that are very sensitive and perfumed products may irritate them. Just listen to your surgeon, your body, and the experienced women here....they have some of the best tips and advice.

As long as you don't get anything at all near your scars because they will be at risk of infection early post-op you'll be fine.

Also, I know you're supposed to wear a sports bra for a few months post-op.. but would it hurt to wear a normal bra once or twice (just for nights out) ??

If you've been adviced to wear a sportsbra for a specified period of time by your surgeon, there's a reason for it! Follow the instructions you've been given by your clinic to enable you to get the best results possible from your recovery sweetness, it's just not worth risking your recovery for the sake of a night out. You'll have plenty of opportunities after you get the OK from your surgeon to show off your new babies! xxx
