How long did you take off work?
Hi all,
I know it depends on your job.My surgeon said 1-2 wks Mine is not that physical im a freelance designer so a lot of the time i'm just sat at my laptop so i can work at home too.
Im a week post op and feel so fuzzy in the head im finding it hard to concentrate. I have the self -employed guilt (ie no work= no pay )i think.Must stop being hard on myself!

Re: How long did you take off work?
Hi kate, I'm due back at work on Monday and that will be day 9 post op. I'm a medical secretary so can avoid lifting etc. Think if you feel okay to go back then you are fine, if not take a little longer off.

Re: How long did you take off work?
I'm sure that what your surgeon says will be fine. Being self employed is hard at times, but like you said you've got to give yourself a break. Are you still on pain killers? if so they could be making you feel all fuzzy and may continue to do so until they are out of your system. I had to take best part of 6 weeks off, Like you if i don't work, i don't get paid so that sucked, but it was worth it in the end. Hope you don't push yourself too early doing to much xoxoxoxoo

Re: How long did you take off work?
I took 13days off work. The first week there was no way I could of gonna back and my job is at a desk no lifting at all. I think if you need longer give yourself longer these no point going back to soon, making yourself ill and then needing longer off. xx

Think you might be right I only finished my anti- biotics and pain killers yesterday. That will explain the fuzzy head! Honestly it's like jelly xx

Re: How long did you take off work?
I intended on taking a week but there was no way I could have gone back after a week, I was still really uncomfortable.
Luckily my boss knew what I was off for and so I was free to take a 2nd week if needed - which I did!
1st week back was awful, couldn't concentrate on anything but my boobs! Think I spent most of my time checking breastbuddies or nipping to the ladies to check they were still there and not to mention feeling them....one guy caught me! Don't know who was more embarrassed me or him?! lol x

Re: How long did you take off work?
Just a week off for me. I've found my first week back more tiring than anything else, but it was ok. I only work Mon to Wed anyway, so was bearable. I'm glad it's my weekend now tho!
Lol Milliepig - I've been caught having a feel too :D And yes, checking they're still there!

Re: How long did you take off work?
I took 2 weeks off, I didn't need to but I felt much better going back after 2, would have been so tired and achey after just 1 week.
Re: How long did you take off work?
Hi hun,
I went back to work after just over a week and to be honest i wish I had taken 2. It wasn't the pain it was the fuzzy head and lack of concentration like you have - I found it hard going back so soon.

Re: How long did you take off work?
My surgery was on a Thursday afternoon and went back to work Monday. I definately did too much on Monday, but did leave early the rest of the week. Like Minxie I was just more tired than anything else. I'm at three weeks and every day gets better.

Hi I had a full 6 weeks off work due to risk of infection from my job as a swimming teacher and just started back this week (lucklily it was winter here) boy did I feel it in the chest muscles after 4 days in the pool.

Re: How long did you take off work?
I found the PO depression was worse when I sat at home so I was happy to be back to work too. I took off one week and one day. Being home alone sucked.

Re: How long did you take off work?
Im so glad people only seem to need 2 weeks off, as thats the maximum my hubby can have off work consecutively, and I'll need his help with the kids!

Re: How long did you take off work?
When I had my first op done I wasn't employed so taking time off wasn't a problem. Now i'm considering are-op in the not so distant future due to having PIP implants and was just wondering. Did you take the time you had off to recover as sick leave or did you have to use your own annual holiday leave to cover it?

Re: How long did you take off work?
I'm using annual leave plus Xmas holidays to give me 2 weeks off (although I'll be looking after my kiddies on my own the last 4 days of those!)

Im taking a month off - Im a beauty therapist specialising in skin analysis, so the analysis bit is ok but I can have up to 5 hours worth of massage a day too...Doubt I could do that too soon after surgery aye :heehee: so a holiday for me!!

Re: How long did you take off work?
I timed my surgery so it was just before Christmas, therefore I get 3 weeks "off" to recover...however, after just one week I am bored!!!
