When do I need to get measured?

Hi Girls

I was wondering if you could tell me when I will need to be measured now that I am post op?
I think some girls have had to be measured prior to their fourth week check up and take an underwire bra with them to show their nurse or PS.

I am seeing my nurse to have my stitches out on Wednesday next week so I can wait until then to ask her as she has not asked me to be measure prior to this appointment.

I just wondered if you helpful ladies would be able to help or tell me what you had to do?
Also I dont live that close to a measuring shop so wil need to plan it in!

I have never been measured hun but i think it's normally around the 6 week mark :dunno: xx

I had to wait till 12 weeks this time around, but 6 weeks first time around! Different surgeons have different opinions on when they feel you should be wearing underwires hun and it's always best to follow the advice of your own surgeon.

When you're able to get measured, personally I think it's best to go to a specialist lingerie shop rather than a lingerie department in a large department store, such as Debenhams or Marks & Spencers, Bravissimo is very good, but you could go to any specialist lingerie shop - You might need to arrange an appointment for a fitting, so always best to call and ask first rather than just turning up and arranging enough time for yourself to get the best from your fitting. xxxx

I got measured at 4 weeks, just because I was in a bra shop and the girls I was with made me, I was really scared as I was in bravissimo and they only do D+ and I was convinced I wasn't a D lol. I had my 6 week check with the nurse who was happy that I turned up still in my sports bra and told me I would have had a telling off if I had been wearing underwire before she let me lol (she's great).
I would think you wont see your surgeon untill 3 months and he doesn't really check to see if your bra fits or not, I'm sure if you asked him he would have a look for you.

hey hon, i know how you feel! Im two weeks post op and desperate to get measured already too! Think il wait another two weeks till i go to get measured though as i know they are still changing xxx

I think most get told 6 weeks.

I know FG was told to get measured and bring her bra to her appt with her surgeon.

All PS are different - best thing to do is ask the nurse when you go for your first follow up appointment.

I got measured at 4 and a half weeks and was told to wear my underwire bra to my check up. Mr Liew then checked whether I had been measured correctly and showed me what to look for when trying on a bra to ensure it fits well. My ps recc Bravissimo in Manchester, so that's where I went to get measured. I would highly recc them if there's one near you, but you need to make an appointment (very busy time for BA's apparently!)

I think it varies so much between surgeons, so I would ask YOUR surgeons advice and follow that hun. It's always best I think.

I think anytime after the 6week mark is fine, but you need to be aware that overs the months there will be further changes to come. xx

i didnt get measured untill 3 months i dont think! i lived in my sports bras, ew! xx

i waited 6 but still got bigger at 10 months went u 2 cup sizes so had to go out a buy new bras again

Grace I had the same surgeon as FunkyGirl and I got measured today. I am seeing my surgeon on Monday. Like everyone says you need to check with your surgeon.

But the time passes so quickly, happy healing.

thats the reason i didnt rush out to buy bras, as i know loadsa ppl have fluffed later on , i havent seemed to though ,lol xx
