Vitamin C Empty Vitamin C

Post by Cally 1st April 2010, 6:34 pm

Hi ladies, after a bit of advice please. My op is in a few days and I have a rotten cold. I'd really like to take vitamin c, but am not sure whether to or not. I wasn't told to avoid anything by my ps, and some people seem to say it's ok to take it, and some people say not to. I know it's supposed to thin the blood, but I've also read that it's a good vit to take before surgery. Has anyone taken it pre op ?
Thank you xx

Not to worry have taken some now anyway. I have a sore throat and sore chest and feel generally under the weather but no cough as such. Have recently cut down on my smoking so am hoping it's more to do with that, but don't know. At pre op today they just said I have a few more days so hopefully will feel better. The anaestetist will decide whether to go ahead or not. Am hoping it's not a chest infection as they said they definately won't do it. Trying to stay optimistic about it all. Thanks anyway x

I had a bad sinus/respiratory infection 2wks before my op and I was really worried I was gonna have to postpone it, but thankfully my doc gave me some antibiotics that were ok'd by my PS and it cleared up just in time!
