Hi Girls,

Can anyone offer advice on best sports bras to take the hospital for after my op? Will ask my PS too when I see her Tues but also wanted to ask ladies who have actually been through it! Also, what's the most comfy sleeping position for first few days after my op? I usually sleep on my back or side.

Can't believe the big day is 2 weeks tomorrow! Feels like I have soooo much to organise before then! TC Sports bras & sleeping position post op?? 113752 xx

I didn't really get on with sports bras ... I bought some maximum support bras instead - from M&S. But even then I quite often didn't wear them at night because I didn't find it comfortable. My surgeon was extremely relaxed about that sort of thing though.

In terms of sleeping - I had 3 soft pillows and slept on those quite propped up. To be honest I was so wiped out from the GA that I just passed out on the first few nights.

You'll be pleased to know that within a few months i was back to sleeping on my front again !

I'm 7 days post op and i'm wearing a 30DD shock absorber high impact sports bra, very supportive and actually feels very comfortable! I also bought a few zip up the front ones from M&S pre-op, but since I haven't had much swelling will probably return them as they are in sizes 32. They look really good and supportive, I know a few of the girls have had these ones. The asda ones seems to be quite popular too, they don't do them in a size 30 so were no good for me.

With regards to sleeping post op, I have been advised to sleep propped up for about 2 weeks. I have 3 pillows and then my V-pillow that I am sleeping against at the moment. It isn't the most comfortable tbh, but the V-pillow is an an absolute godsend! You get used to the position after a while anyway.

Good luck with your upcoming special day!! x x

I slept with about 6 pillows propping me up and then my V pillow to stop me from rolling over onto my side.

I only had to sleep propped up for 9 days until I had my check up and was told that I could go back to sleeping on my side, thank God!

I found the best sports bra to be from La Senza. It's really soft so the band didn't dig into my scars. The Asda ones are cheap and cheerful. They only do from a 34 band size up but this was fine for me as it wasn't until 5 weeks post op until I could fit into my usual 30/32 band bras due to swelling.

Good luck!

The lady at Mybreast told me that I have to sleep propped up for about 2 weeks, but just had my 7 day check up and my ps has said I can now sleep on my back if I want to! I can then start sleeping on my side after a week or whenever it feels comfortable!

OMG can't wait to sleep on my back tonight! Sports bras & sleeping position post op?? 727935 x x

I had one from M&S to begin with,it says suitable for post surgery on the box, they come in black and white, the black looks quite nice actually with a fair bit of lace on.Since then ive bought a bright pink one from la senza and prefer to wear this from time to time as it is a better looking style,if you can get a decent looking support bra! x
