DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
This is probably a strange question, but do you get to see the implants what they are putting inside you on the day of your B/A? I only ask as i have paid extra to have Inspiras and for all i know they could be putting standard ones in!!
Do you have to sign anything and check??
Sorry if this sounds silly! was just wondering

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
You should get the implant ID/device card with the implant make/model and id number on it so you know hun. Its for your warranty. They knock you out before you get to see them x

well I hope I will be under GA so wont have a clue what they are putting in
in all seriousness though I wouldn't choose a company I didn't trust 110% to deliver what I have paid for

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
They have to be kept in their sterile containers but they should have them in the theatre waiting for you so it shouldn't be a big deal to ask to see them when you're in the anaesthetic room. You'll get your implant card and if you really don't trust them there should also be a sticker in your medical notes from the box (everything has to be trackable nowadays in the nhs right from the source to the patient and it also has to be checked and checked and checked again!). x

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
No you don't see them. Even if they were next to me on the bed I wouldn't have seen them, I was so nervous. All I kept thinking was run away, I don't wanna be here lol
But you do get the implant ID andthe book detailing what they are. You can then ring them (the implant manufacture) and use the implant id number to check. I have heard of people paying for allergan inspira and getting CUI's. The company gave them a CUI booklet and told the patient they didn't have any inspira ones and but her implants were inspira. When she rang allergan they confirmed she'd been given CUI. Don't know how far she got in sueing the company in question.

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
I was given the company booklet and a warranty card with the stickers & barcodes from my implants, apparently I just have to keep it all safe incase I get any problems with the actual implant.. sticker is legit barcode and clearly shows cc of implant.. xx

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
Thanks everyone! I guess its just one more thing I am worrying about! I will have to trust them I guess! At least with a barcode and book thing the chances are slimmer for them to con you! I will make sure I ask to see them still though its worth a try!

Re: DO YOU GET TO SEE IMPLANT?
Hi Whoopsy!!
Love the name!!!
The implants need to remain sterile!! Often if people are unsure of size and surgeon decides on day, they use sizers, not implants to determine this. However, all info should be given to you.
I was given a booklet with information, guarantee etc. before my op. which included a form to be signed by both myself and surgeon agreeing the size, make, model etc. of implant fitted. The surgeon kept this went over it on the day before op. and we both signed. he copied and gave me one at first check 1 week later, sent to manufacturer and they returned confirmation to myself and surgeon, further info. re any concerns with serial numbers etc. I received two credit card sized I.D. cards to carry in my purse to identify me in case of emergency .
The manufacturer also called and e.mailed to confirm I received everything, and was the owner of the right serial numbers .
Gosh It is funny writing it, even thinking it now!!
I dont carry the I.D. cards...if I get in a state of needing identified, think I will carry around my dental records

I was told they are quiet important hun, just incase anything happens they know you have implants fitted. Also something to do with the warranty.
