Pre-op Problems
Hi girls,
Well im really gutted........I had my pre-op about
two weeks ago with Transform & they were not at all impressd with
my past medical history!
I have asthma which up untill 5 years
ago was totally not controlled. I spent most my child hood & my
teens in & out off hospital & even intensive care. This was
because my asthma is triggered by colds, flu & allergies. Now that
im older i dont catch colds as much as i did when i was at school &
im very aware off what im allergic to so i avoid it.
The lady at
my pre-op said that she wanted a leyyer to state what medication m on
& that i have been fine with my asthma & its controlled.
Then
i went on to tell her i had a small bellybutton hernia ( which i have
had over a year with no problems) & that im on the nhs waiting list
to have it fixed. She was not impressed again & told me that shorly
it would be better to get the hernia fixed 1st then have my BA so i
exsplained that its not a emergancy op & i could be waiting upto 6
months to get it fixed. I also told her that at my consultation for my
hernia i told the surgeon that i was going to have a B.A done & he
said this would not effect my hernis one little bit.
Again she wanted this in writing..............
Then
she went onto blood clotting to which i said i wasnt shore as 2 years
ago i had blood test done because my toes & feet turn blue /white
if they get the tinyest bit cold they look like a dead persons feet!
the test either showed a clotting problem or calcium problem but i
couldnt remember! So again she was not impressed & said that with
all my past problem id be lucky if they went ahead with my b.a!
So
i went to my G.P who has been a fantastic support throu my B.A & he
siad he would do a letter & though they were being wayyyyyy over
the top.
He put that my ashmas has been controled for a number off
years now & that me waiting for a hernis repair would have no
impace on me getting my B.A done.
& that he has been thro all my
notes with a fine tooth comb & altho i seem to have a recollection
off a clotting problem there is no record off this & that im on no
medication for it so its highly unlikely that i have one. He also put
that the nhs hospital are more then happy to give me a G.A so he cant
see any off my medical history being a problem!
On the up side
my surgeon mr Meleagros is a specialist with the nhs in hernia repair
& colone surgury so i like to think id be in safe hands or even
that he would repair me hernia at the same as he gives me new boobs LOL
Im getting really feed up about it as Transform have had the
letter from my G.P for over a week now so i called them friday to say
am i having my op or not they said ' oh dont worry you have loads off
time till your op we will ring you back at the end off the day to let
you no if you can have it!' so they didnt ring me so i called them
& they then said we will have to fax it to the surgeon monday
morning 1st thing & let you no& not to panic as they have loads
off time till my op...............WHAT ALL OFF 13 DAYS!!!!!!! Im
totally freeking out & ive been so stressed over the weekend
worryin that i will not get my new boobs, ive booked a hotel for two
nights right next to it thats costing me over £200 & with only 13
days to go i dont even no if they will do it. I have even paided in
full got all my support bras, bio oil ect
I again called them
ten mins ago only to be told my pc dont start work till ten thirty
& the nurse isnt there till then
either..............AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sorry for my rant
but im totally upset & they dont seem to realise why im sooooo
worried they just think im being anoying keep ringing them. My husband
is fuming he thinks its disscusting that you pay to go private &
they cant even give a a yes or a no in a day!
sorry again for my rant........................Thanx sta x

Re: Pre-op Problems
aww hun, i can totally understand what your going through!!! i was booked to have my ba on 28th aug, but they cancelled the nite before as my pre op bloods were abnormal (low platelets) but they knew of all my medical history, id had 2 consults with them, but they said it wasnt a prob, till the day b4 my op!!
i also got a gp letter, sent that but still wasnt good enough, even my gp nearly lost it with them on the phone as he was saying my clotting is not serious enough to not be able to go ahead with surgery, but they wasnt having any of it! now im looking for into new surgeons, and getting the cash back from transform!
i was also having mr melegros, not anymore.i hope you get it sorted as i know how stressful it is, keep us posted on how u get on x

Re: Pre-op Problems
Hey huni,
I'm so sorry to hear of all the trouble you're having with them. On the one hand, I guess it's good that they're not just rushing ahead with your op without checking if you're healthy enough. But they've dragged this out for too long and dont seem to have kept you informed, you should've been given an answer by now or at least a phone call to explain what is going on.
I hope you hear from them soon sweetie, and that they give you some good news when they do call. Keep us up to date!

Re: Pre-op Problems
oh no what a nightmare and after reading what happened to mizzpink i guess it shows they can cancel the day before if they see fit (in their eyes!!)
I really do hope they don't cancel your op after all the hype up to it for you, it's annoying that they take your money before doing these checks.
I hope you hear something today and your mind gets put at rest, best of luck hunni x x x

Re: Pre-op Problems
.x. hope that when they do finally get back to you with an answet that it is good news and you get the all clear to go ahead with the op. i do think its good they check these things and take them seriosuly but it seems like they are taking it a bit tooo seriosuly especially since your GP has checked all your history and doesn't have an issue with you having the surgery....they are being abit over the top about it and also insensitve to your feelings by keeping you hanging..hope its sorted soon x

Re: Pre-op Problems
Thinking of you!! Hope it all works out for you.....are you happy not to be in a hospital? I would insist on speaking with The Manager, and insist on an answer today...the waiting and stress is not good for you. It is a very emotional journey, I hope you get the answers and care you deserve. Let us know how it goes...Take Care xx

Re: Pre-op Problems
Hope everything works out ok! I know in a weird way it is good they are being cautious and making sure it safe for you, but then the stress of the not knowing is not good for you as it is very emotional. Please keep us informed of your outcome. Im sure everything will be fine x x x
