I had my BA exactly a week ago.  My scars are all bumps & raised & uneven :(  I know that its early days but is there a chance that they will flatten out & calm down?  I don't have any history of keloid scars but I am worried that this is what they look like, more so on one side than the other.  There is no blood & it doesn't look like a fresh wound at all, but just very lumpy & slightly painful to touch.

(I had the standard boob crease incisions).

Its so normal. You've got all those stitches on the inside. Once they're all healed up, about 6wks or whenever your surgeon advises, you can start massaging the scar to help break down the tissue. However, when I started that it made me feel so nauseous and gross that I stopped. They've entirely disappeared on their own now, I can only feel something if I go looking for it. So its nothing to worry about right now.

Also, I'm not sure what ethnicity you are, but keloid is more predominant in afro-Caribbean skin. So if you're pastey white like me, then there's very little chance of that!

Mine are nearly 8 months old and I still feel the odd lump or bump on the scar. It's completely normal and scars can take up to 18 months to properly fade and smooth out. Take good care of them to speed the process up where you can. I massage a vitamin oil (recommended by surgeon) into my scars day and night (when I remember!) and it's really helped the texture and appearance of the scar! xx

Thanks all, one side has improved massively since I posted this.  The other side is still a bit of a mess but has improved a bit also, so am keeping fingers crossed they will turn out OK!
