Root canal treatment. Empty Root canal treatment.

Post by COOKIE 26th January 2015, 9:44 am

So I'm having root canal treatment today. Well, one of two I need doing anyway. I had to have my tooth packed just be fore Christmas so finally getting that sorted today. I've only a month now before my Breast Augmentation and I really don't want anything to interfere with my surgery date.

I think I'm going to need to cancel my second one till at least 6 weeks post-op due to the risk of infection.

It's not like I can have anti-biotics either. Well, I can, but not your regular ones because I caught a superbug in hospital last year call C-diff so if I have regular anti-bs it'll flare up again.

Sometimes I feel I have so much stacking against me and I just want to have an have time to enjoy a nice pair of boobs!

So I think I'm making the sensible decision in postponing the other root canal, I was thinking maybe she can fit me in next week? But if there's any infection or swelling then the surgery just can't go ahead nope

My boobs come first though so I'm putting myself at nor risk at all. Xx

Good luck with the root canal today.. I hope it isn't too painful for you.

Oh no... It all has to come up at once doesn't it?

Haha I love the way your putting your boobies first, but to be fair you've waited a long time.

Could you keep the appt and see how quick the first one heals? I suppose the second one could go very differently...

Good luck and I'm sending you fast healing vibes!! Xx

Awww you're so sweet to think of me Sarah kiss

It was a little embarrassing having to discuss with my daughters work collegue the fact that I'm having revision to change my Breast implants, but it had to be done so once it was out of the way we were all fine.

I'm currently having an overall of my teeth lol. So first thing she did was to X-ray all of my teeth and I needed a BIG filling on the left side, so she said as the packing held really well, she wanted to leave the root canal and do the filling then instead (it's an old filling that was breaking away) so she removed all the old amalgam filling and replaced that with a nice white one. I've four more fillings with amalgam that I'm changing to white as well, this one was just in a hurry I guess lol, so I'm having the root canal next week. She also agreed that due to the risk of infection as I spoke of in my opening post that I should wait to have the front tooth done. So it's just the root canal next week and then no more dental work till my healing is done. Then it's another root canal, four filling changes to white ones and teeth whitening and then I'm done.

But yeah. It's not worth doing anything that may compromise my surgery date. Xx

Fantastic... what a great dentist and how understanding!!
I did wonder if you went to the dentist your daughter works at!

I bet its going to feel so much better when its all done :)

I had invisible train tracks, any chips filled and whitening 2 years ago... it was so worth every penny!! - confidence grew so much! xx

Ooo that's good to read. I can't wait to have nice teeth again. I always had a good set of knashers lol but age and fillings over the years have taken their toll, so as you say, it's expensive but worth it. Reading you talk about yours and the confidence you felt has me so excited now though. I want them all done for the end of July when I'm a bridesmaid is Cyprus. So counting down the weeks after my recovery, I think it's just about doable.

I shed a tear when the dentist showed me the before and after pictures. I had braces when younger but I lost my baby teeth by about 9, so they put braces straight in my mouth.. Then by 16-17 they started moving again, the NHS a said it wasn't worth braces a second time around! They only got worse so something had to be done! I had a 2mm gap between my teeth when I was 9 lol.. Thankfully that didn't come back!
Oo how exciting!! What part of Cyprus? I went to my friends wedding there in June last year!! - absolutely amazing!! X

were you given a retainer to stop your teeth moving? My daughter had braces when she was about 11. Had them on for a couple of years and her teeth were loveky, but she wasn't given a retainer, so when her braces were removed her teeth started moving again. We paid for her braces and this time she has a retainer that she keeps in all the time and they're not budging. But without a retainer your teeth can move again.

lol@ you being excited about your addict status - you're welcome! Xx

I went for a few different consultations to see what different dentists would do for me, and one of my first questions was what would you do to stop them moving again, what I have now sounds similar to what your daughter has. It's a fixed retainer which is a wire that has been fused to each tooth... No way they are ever moving again!
I had a removal retainer the first time around, but they took it for me after about 6-12 months, I only wore it at night x

Yes, that's exactly what my daughter has now. It's like a little brace cemented to the back of her teeth that can't be seen at all but maintains the position of her teeth. Xx

You are hun. I've just responded to your other post. :ok:  If you're very worried don't be afraid to bring it up with your dentist and ask them about it, but your boobs are over the recovery period now with your surgeon giving you the all clear to treat your boobs as you wouod your natural boobs.

You wouldn't be asking this question if your boobs were natural would you hun? Hug

Hi Cookie,
Hope you got through your root canal treatment ok! I find going to the dentist pretty traumatic. I could do with being sedated really lol.
I had to have the first part of root canal treatment today. Both my surgeon and my dentist don't believe there is a risk with infection and dental work (unless there is an absess in the gum) and so I havnt been given any antibiotics. Everything I read online though says you should cover yourself with antibiotics as there is a risk of infection or cc. I'm worried now about the risks. Are the risks real? High? Low? X
