Post by Bektoria 3rd November 2013, 5:55 pm

Hi ladies,

I'm new to posting on here and could do with some advice ! I've had 2 consultations, Mr Irwin at BMI and Miss Ali at Spire. I'm so confused because Mr Irwin, who I saw first, said I would need an uplift. Now I know my boobs are not fantastic, which is why I want implants but I didn't think this was necessary. I felt like crap after the appointment !!! I have already decided that I'm not going to go with Mr Irwin. I was really cheesed off that he kept me waiting 45 minutes for my appointment and I paid £200 for the privilege, he seemed arrogant as well !

Miss Ali was amazing and put me at ease straight away, suggested overs and said I would not need an uplift. Should I go with my gut instinct, I liked her, or get another opinion ? I cannot afford to waste any more money on consultation fees, my husband would not be chuffed to know that I've spent £400 seeing stars  I guess what he doesn't know won't hurt him !

Looking forward to your opinions,
Bek x

Well you could get one more opinion just so you have a majority, the next surgeon will either say you need a lift or not... However if you are really keen on miss Ali then you could listen to your guts! She works with spire who only use baaps/bapras registered surgeons so you know you would be in excellent hands xx

You could go for one more maybe with a mybreast surgeon who only charge £25 I think for a consulation, even if you don't go with them at least you have that extra opinion.

As for consultation fees, if you do go with miss Ali you should be able to get the price of the consultation off the final price off the surgery hunny x

Definitely go with the third opinion, either mybreast (£25) or see a surgeon for free at Mya, Transform or THG x

I agree, get a third opinion. You dont have to use the surgeon, just go for the opinion and advice somewhere that does free consults. It might mean some unwanted sales pitches, but at least you'll have something to compare to.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I've taken your advice and I'm having a free consultation with another surgeon at Spire, I've got a 15 minute slot. Then I'm going to decide who to go with yahoo

Hi Lisav73,

I had heard good things about Mr Irwin which is why I went to see him. I found him really rude but maybe he was having a bad day ?!

Thing is he should be taking it out on potential patients if he's having a 'bad day'
I think you like the sound of your second it's always nice to have a good feeling about someone, but I'd say like the other girls, get some other consults in just to compare them, look at your local Nuffield as they hold free open days and try my breast as they are £25 a consult, then also try more high street clinics THG, HMG, or MYA just to have some comparison

It's a shame you didn't have a good time with him.
I couldn't of asked for a better surgeon and had every faith in him. I previously had breast cancer and he's a leading surgeon and very knowledgeable in what he does. X
