Tattoo
Hiya,
I want to get a new tattoo and I know its best to avoid for a while after having your op due to the risk of infection. Just wondered how long I need to wait?
Annoyingly I have my ex's initials tattooed on me.... and it needs covering up asap!!

Re: Tattoo
Just had a quick google, so it seems every surgeon gives different advice, no change there lol! But generally seems to be anything from 6 weeks to 6 months! So ring your clinic hun x

Re: Tattoo
It would be best to ask your surgeon lovely. Whilst you're still healing it really wouldn't be advisable due the risk of infection. Infection anywhere can enter the blood stream and due to the implant being a foreign body and at risk of rejection, if the infection reaches that area it could possibly lead to having to have the implant explanted.
So as your surgeon is the one who will be monitoring your healing they'll be the best person to ask to ensure its OK to go ahead. Xx

Re: Tattoo
Thanks ladies. I will ask my surgeon today, the last thing I want to do is compromise my new boobs for the sake of a tattoo.

Re: Tattoo
I just had a 4 hour session done on my sleeve at 6 weeks post op. Check it out [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I asked my surgeon and she said I could have a tattoo whenever I wanted but that it would be advisable to wait at least 2 weeks for the external healing to take place. I decided to wait 6 weeks to be on the safe side!

Re: Tattoo
I would check with your surgeon also. With all the news about tattoos at the moment, make sure you do your research on the tattoo place/person if you haven't used them before.
Re: Tattoo
Definately check out your artist... I have known so many people have bad work or go to scratchers cos they are cheap... its not worth it! I pay £80 an hour and although its pricey I know I am getting work done by a top artist in a clean hygienic studio.

Re: Tattoo
Totally agree 5stdown, cheap is not good and the hell some people have been through because of infections, it's just awful. I know the tattooist I used has won many awards and was voted in the top 100 of europe in skin deep magazine. Research is always the key.
Re: Tattoo
there are so many scratchers about that are just in it forthe money. definitely research hun. my other half is a tattooist and I wanted to have one done whilst I was healing, but the only thing that we thought is your body will be trying to heal from your surgery and to have ink on top may delay healing xx

Re: Tattoo
I have had a few tattoos before and been to a reputable place. So I would go back there. I was just concerned about the healing and infection. Xx

Re: Tattoo
Thats why I waited the full 6 weeks before getting one done... didnt want to attack my body with too much in one go!
