should i tell them i don't react well to a GA?
hey girls!
got 3 weeks until my consultations in london. getting v. excited now cos i know that that's gona go soooo quickly (i work in a pub/restaurant so gona be rushed off my little feeties) ANYWAY i've got all the deposit ready so am good to book once i've had the consultations (fingers crossed on the finance front)
and it just occurred to me that last time i had a GA i really didn't do too well. My blood pressure dropped way low, i felt like i was drunk and i had to be kept in overnight (the nhs ward was full though so i got put in the private wing, v nice)
I know that reacting to a GA/low blood pressure is probably quite common in the grand scheme of things but should i let them know beforehand?? And will it affect my op at all?
My mum thinks i should tell them and ask for a morning slot (she thinks the reason i didn't get on with the GA was because the op was late afternoon and i hadn't eaten since 6am and when i was younger i always used to be a bit funny if i didn't eat regularly, fainting etc.) would they be able to accommodate that do you think ??
I know i'm getting ahead of myself but i'm just soooo excited !! (and also procrastinating from uni work again )

It's important you tell you surgeon/clinic anything at all that you think might interfere with your surgery day babe, so if you've had previous problems then its best to tell them and they will speak with anaesthetist. If its felt you'd benefit from being first on the list then you will be hun.
Have you had a pre-op yet? Usually you're asked about any previous problems at this appointment hun. Xx

thanks cookie.
nah i'm getting really ahead of myself but i wasn't sure if i was being over dramatic about it (like i said above, they prob deal with it a lot) but thought i'd ask now anyway before i forget. Will write it in my notepad now and make sure i mention it at either the consultation or the pre op xx

You're not at all getting ahead of yourself hun. These are things that matter when having surgery so the more the clinic know, the better they'll be able to help you on your special day  xx

I would tell them, they'll be able to prepare for this on your op day to make sure you are comfortable.
