Sore Scar - Infection Empty Sore Scar - Infection

Post by CassieShips 7th December 2012, 9:05 am

Hey girlies, I was back to Spire again yesterday as my right scar was sore and when I removed the tape there was some puss and a touch of blood coming out of it. The hole is so tiny that I can't even see it!

Popped to see a nurse and she said it is totally superficial, think it's a bit like when you have any cut and it goes a bit gooey. She cleaned me up and popped some gauze soaked in iodine on it and put surgical tape over the top. Also took a wound swab but she doesn't think I will need any further treatment.

Was just after some advice on maybe how to look after it now? Should I let the air dry it right out after showering then put tape back over my scars?

The nurse said I could go back if I was worried but it's feeling less painful today and I think that's cos most of the puss is out now and it hasn't weeped at all over night.

Is this normal? xx

I wouldn't get it Wet for a few days at least. I was told ( had a few tiny holes, crusty etc) to shower after a few days, to let the water run, to dry with a boiled washed towel , or cold setting gentle on hair dryer. I still have a dressing on one incision. All healed now but to protect it from rubbing on the sports bra. I go back on Tues to finally this time have it off completely. I am surprised that she arranged no follow up appointment. I was seen every week, this being my longest break of no nurse ( 2 weeks). I would ring and make a follow up if it was me, a week after last seen, just for peace of mind x

Just not sure what to do in the mean time xx

I would keep it totally dry just wipe around other part of boob with a flannel x that's what I did ( & was told) , just to let it heal.

Have had the same, one is 2 weeks healing behind the other. I am 2 months post op and still have a dressing on , but the incision is fine now. I have a bra crying out for me to wear!!! Don't stress, it will all be sorted x mine was caused by the stitches trying to get out of the incision and then the incision keep scabbing.

Rang them. Was told to take tape off after shower and let it dry then redress. Took tape off and I now have a visible hole under my boob with something clear poking out of it. (Maybe a stitch?)

Rang clinic back and I've got to go down at 2pm. Hope they do something to make it feel better as its doing my hea in right now. So itchy, I could pull it out myself, arghhhhhh Shocked x x

Have you been given anti bs Hun? I wouldn't put water anywhere near it if it's infected sweet and a red red ring, pus sounds like infection. If even a tiny bit of water gets trapped in there it will breed bacteria really quickly making infection worse x

I haven't been given any since this came up yesterday. Arghhhhhh!! nope

It looks like a really big blackhead inside of it. I've taped it back up and put my bra on and I'm leaving it well alone now!

Definitely think its an infection too but it was no where near as bad as this yesterday x x

It could be a spitting stitch hun and often when these get removed the hole closes almost like magic in a day or two, so hopefully that's what it is.

I agree with mrsball though about showering... If there's any possibility at all of it being infected the last thing you want to do is get it wet.

You're obviously being seen now so hoping all is well sweetness and there is no infection. Xx

I cannot give you any real advice on the issue, but it's good that you have noticed it all and haven't just put it aside, because it's better to know for sure than to drive yourself crazy with worry. Try not to worry too much, though! You'll see the nurse today and hopefully they can fix you back up and get you on the road to recovery again. xx Hug

I think it may be a stitch or stitches, this is what I had and a little opening ( which my mum .You may need antibiotics. I had the stitches removed ( no pain at all ) caused itchiness. Try not to stress too much, I had a slight mucus stuff too but was fine xx
