I think with overs you can start lifting earlier than unders, maybe avoid lifting her unless you have to and if it hurts just stop x

I was told I was fine to resume normal activity at 4 weeks. Maybe your stitches are taking a little longer to dissolve and your scars aren't sealed.

I'd follow her advice lovely, it's not worth compromising your health.

I was told 6weeks. I had unders and anatomical though, which I believe makes a difference....i.e. to save rotation.

Best to be a bit on the cautious side - you don't want to compromise your healing. x

Lifting post op Empty Re: Lifting post op

Post by energy 21st May 2009, 4:18 pm

Hi
I am three and a bit weeks post op having a lift and overs and have an 11 month old. I didn't lift her at all for the first two weeks but then my childcare help ended so I had no choice but to lift her. I made it as easy as I could so brought the change mat downstairs, travel cot in the dining room and booster seat on the floor instead of the highchair to save me having to carry her upstairs etc but to be honest you have to look after them and there's not much you can do about that. Just take it gradually and stop as soon as anything pulls. I am looking after her now mostly the same as I would if I hadn't had the op but I am only lifting her / carrying her when neccessary rather than when she needs a cuddle etc (I come down to the floor and sit on the floor to cuddle etc so not to lift her up). Only lift when you have to and rest in between.
