I have booked my 1st consultation with Transform for the 15th July and wanted to ask a few questions before I go, I will be asking the same questions while I'm there plus many more but wanted to compare.

1. How long before I can pick up a baby?
2. How long before I can drive?
3. How long before I can stand up?
4. How long before I can go bra less?
5. What's the best sports bra to buy?
6. How long before I can do housework(a long time I hope)?
7. How long before I can go on a sun bed?

I have posted a few times before and I would like to say thank you for all the help and advise. You have all been so kind.

Thank you ladies x

chicksville wrote:1. How long before I can pick up a baby?

I haven't got any babies hun so will leave this question to those more experienced than I.

2. How long before I can drive?

Give yourself at least 1 week but be prepared for it to take as long as 2 before you're comfortable and safely back behind the wheel.

3. How long before I can stand up?

You will be able to stand and walk around immediately after your op.

4. How long before I can go bra less?

Depends on your surgeon babe, some don't advise a bra at all, some want you in support bras 24/7 for 4, 6 or 12 weeks so just follow the advice your surgeon gives you hun.

5. What's the best sports bra to buy?

My preference was M&S front fastening sportsbra, but lots of ladies swear by the Asda sportsbras which are really reasonable at just £6 each.

6. How long before I can do housework(a long time I hope)?

I was doing light housework (dusting and general tidying) from day 10, the hoovering and ironing I didn't get back to till about 4 weeks post-op.

7. How long before I can go on a sun bed?

You'll be able to go back on the beds after about 4 weeks post-op but do keep your breasts well covered, especially your scars, your skin will be very prone to burning after being so stretched and the sunbeds if exposed to your scars could cause a pigmintation of the skin. xx

Thanks Cookie, Thats all seems to be good but I would like to know how long before I can pick up my son. He is 15 month and is about 2 stone.

I don't like the thought of not being able to pick him up or cuddle him.

depending on whether you're having unders or overs I'd say at least 2 or maybe three weeks before you'd want to be lifting your son.

I am sure you could have a gentle cuddle with baby if someone passed him to you rather than you lift him, and he/she knows mummy is a bit poorly and needs to be careful - they will feel very sensitive for a while and you won't want them grabbing/bumped/squashed!!

The hardest thing for me with my BA was that I coudn't pick up my baby - and he's not really a baby but nearly 3!
It was smack bang right in the middle of when we started toilet training so I did a few times carefully pick him up to put him on the toilet when I was about 2 weeks post up.
Your baby is only 15 months isn't he? or she? I would def wait at least 2 weeks before lifting him/her but only when necessary.

You'll not want to do anything for about a week after your BA mainly down to the GA making you feel ill and the initial pain of the surgery. It really takes it out of you! If your hubby wont change nappies then maybe see if you could get a friend to stay with you for a week to help you out with the baby.

It was painful lifting a kettle the first two weeks so babies are def out!

I tried cudding my friends baby after about a week and I was still sore, only after 2 weeks did I feel like she wasn't going to hurt me. But if your son is 2 stone I think you may need longer

I'll miss not being able to cuddle him plus he started walking today so that could help.

At what stage could you change a nappy?

Chicksville, you're going to need help with your baby and around the house for about 2 weeks hun, especially with the baby, you just won't be able to cope on your own hun, you 'may' be able to change a nappy after a week, if your baby will lay himself down and you don't have to lift him in any way, but your recovery 'may' take longer and you might find it takes longer, I couldn't hold a tin opener! my arms were so weak for almost 2 weeks! so you should be prepared for that.

You need to discuss all of this with your husband, you're going to need his support. Make sure he's willing to get over his 'phobia' not only for his sons sake, but yours too, start getting him in practise now! LOL. xxx

As silly as this sounds, that is the only thing that is stopping me from being able to do this.

With some people it's the money or plucking up the courage, with me it's crappy nappies.

I am going to get new boobies and it will be this year!

It doesn't sound silly at all hun, infact quite the oposite, you're actually concerned about your sons health and saftey and quite rightly, you will be incapacitated for a while and you will need help, you won't be able to do this on your own.

There's a lot to think about when you have dependants and your priorities as a mother will always be there. xx

Thank you x I feel bad enough that I'm spending all this money on myself when I know I could do more with it. And I feel guilty that I wont be able to do much for a few weeks. Am ALWAYS on the go and like to keep very active.

I do feel selfish but I can always make it up to him afterwards.

My goodness Cookie! This may sound forward but I can't believe that you have 2 adult children. By the look of your photo, your boobs look so young. I don't mean to sound rude in anyway but if I had to guess your age by your photo I would say about 25 to 30.

Is that an other plus for getting your boobs done?? It makes you look younger?

p.s Have been on holiday, that's way it's a long gap between posts. Also if you have a BA and there is a problem and you have to have it correct it, do you have to pay again??

Not if it's covered by your after-care policy hun - Occasionally there 'may' be some additional costs even if you have an after-care policy but you wont have to pay the entire amount and the majority of ladies get the entire cost of the surgery paid. xx

Hey Chicksville

First I thought "how convenient" when I read this, then the funny thought came into my mind about who wipes his bum questions and advise 557141 !!!

People can definately overcome phobias ... and you could point out that his son's poo will have almost identical DNA to his own!!!

Thanks, I had a lovely time. We all went to Norway.

You can't help noticing that most of the pic's the ladies have are of their boobs, we could start a new game. Guess our age! I would offer to star it but at present my boobs look 90 but i'm 41.

Your right about hard work to keep the rest of you looking young. I'm in the gym 7 days a week and only eat a grape a day to try and stay thin. After having children late in life I can feel middle age coming on. My body seems to be moving outwards and downwards at the same time.
