I feel like crap....
The more I research about BAs, the more scared I get! Thing is, I feel like I need this surgery, my boobs aren't symmetrical (by like half a cup but it shows in clothes and I now stick to baggy tops). I keep trying to dodge relationships also, I feel like I won't be able to be confident enough for one or confident enough for intimacy either. Or maybe even that no one would want me. When it comes to hugging, I don't wanna incase they feel it!
Thing is - I'm only 18 and I'll probably be paying for a BA with my uni loans (lol) but if something goes wrong (cc etc) I will be devastated and have to save like crazy again for a re-op.
BUT, you girlies have taken the risk and some of you have probably been in my situation before. So why shouldn't I, really? Part of me thinks that I would be so much more happier with implants. But the risks are on my mind.
(sorry for all my random rambling!)
Do some companies genuinely offer free re-ops? Is it true that you can only have silicone implants in the UK if you are over 22?
If you wanna take a look at pics on ******, you can pm me :) I would love to know your honest thoughts.

[Moved from complications]
Welcome to BJSF iknit
Have you approached your GP yet? It might be worthwhile having a chat with your doc and seeing whether or not they feel you may be a candidate for having the surgery done on the NHS.
It's good that you're aware of the risks babe, as you should enter into this surgery knowing there are no guarantees which is why doing your research and ensuring a good aftercare policy pre-op is so important.
Yes, if you have a good aftercare policy and you have any problems specified then your clinic would honour it hun.
As far as I'm aware if you're over 18 years of age, you can have silicone here in the UK. xx

Re: I feel like crap....
Yes the silicone age thing is for the States, where there is an age restriction on using silicone for a primary BA.
In the UK there are no such restrictions.
CC is the biggest complication to result from BA, but it is still very rare. My srgeon said 1% per year increasing till 10 years so 10% at 10 years and 5% at 5 years. But these new generation implant are still relatively new and seem to lower the % risk but only time will tell.
I went with MyBreast for the 5 years cover for cc, and on reading the terms and conditions b4 booking, I can have one free re-op for cc during that time. I am totally satisfied with that.
The lowest risk for cc is apparently to have textured implants and have partial or complete unders.
At the end of the day, you sound switched on, you will make the right decision but there is no rush. You will know when you get to that ' I AM going to sort this' point and then you can move forward.
Try and remove yourself from the situation and don't overly stress about it, there is nothing that stress will sort so just try and relax.
Take it in bite size pieces and eventually you will have the whole picture and be ready to proceed or be happy in your own skin. And no-one will be as bothered by the diff in size as you are, flaunt yourself for all the positives you have and not the one negative. Live life, don't avoid it because you aren't confident with yourself, it's too short.
Good Luck Sweetheart xx

Re: I feel like crap....
Hi I felt exactly the same about my boobs, they were very uneven, and with wieight loss and babies it was even worse. I was self conscious all the time, even used to put my arm up over my small one when I was talking so nobody would see it. I had to be careful what I wanted to wear. I could go on.
It took me twenty years to have a BA, and it was honestly the best thing I ever did for myself. I did lots of research, and yes there can be complications as you know, but there was nothing I couldnt cope with if it happened so I decided yes I would definatley go ahead. Once i had made my decision the rest was easy.
Life really is too short, and twenty years soon goes by!!!!
Good luck xxx

Re: I feel like crap....
Hi hun, the girls have given some great advice. You might feel clearer about everything if you go for a couple of consultations with some surgeons. Ask the surgeons about the risks of complications and what you are covered for in the event of a complication. This first step often clarifies things and helps you to decide if a BA is the right things for you.

Re: I feel like crap....
Also as you are only young still you boobies may still grow, mine certainly did after the age of 18.....and then all of a sudden again at 34 !
Mybreast's aftercare policy is great and you wouldn't have to pay for a re-op due to any post-op comlications....but other companies probably offer this too just make sure you choose a reputable surgeon that are BAAPS or BAPRAS.....
Good luck to you!

Re: I feel like crap....
Thank you so much. I've decided that I will go ahead with a BA. Hopefully by this time next year if I save like crazy! I can't want to have even boobies! Haha :P

Re: I feel like crap....
Hi iknit,
I was the same mine were uneven only by half a size but it was a big thing for me - I spoke to my doctor about 4 years ago and she didn't really take it seriously, and said they might just reduce the bigger one which is not what I wanted. Also I was living at home and didn't tell anyone else about it. 4 years on I am living with my boyfriend and got it done recently with Harley Medical Group, I have been so well looked after. I suppose I did it now privately because I just didn't want to wait any longer, I was so impatient!
Good luck with it all you're gonna love it!!

Thanks! It's nice to know someone else was in the same position. I measured mine and they are also uneven by about half a size. But to me, it looks soooo obvious! I just wanna be "normal" I guess lol. Anyways, thanks x
