Sunbeds before BA???
With only 2 weeks or so to go I decided to book some well overdue sunbed sessions, and it wasnt till afterwards I thought is this a good idea?? Will it make any difference to my scars, or am I more lkely to get stretch marks if my skin is tanned (i mean like as the skin stretches will it become whiter and more obvious???)
I just didnt want to have my op and then not go on sunbeds for ages and have my boobs looking all pastey and white, as i dont think i`ll be up to slapping on my faithful St Tropez, not with under the muscle implants anyway, haha.
I know I sound totally ridiculous but any advice would be welcomed, xxxxx

Re: Sunbeds before BA???
I'm not sure about sunbeds before, but my first thought is that sunbeds/natural tan actually damages the skin and I want my skin to be in the best possible condition.....just my amateur thoughts though, so don't take it too serious.
I asked my surgeon about using fake-tan, cause I'm addicted, and he said to avoid it until the op as not all fake-tans are the same and they do go kinda deep in the skin.
I'm gonna walk around like a ghost til monday and a few weeks after before I go back to fake-tan, and I will make sure I don't get any on the scars for a LONG time!
He also said that I should be reallyreally careful with the scars and sun because they are more sensitive than the rest of your body and use really high sunscreen on them (when they've healed)
Hope it helps a little

Re: Sunbeds before BA???
I asked my nurse about this last week & was told it is not a problem using sunbeds pre-op it's post op you should avoid as it makes the scars darker. Saying that I have read on here other people saying not to use sunbeds before either. I would recommend asking your nurse/patient co-ordinator hun. xx

Re: Sunbeds before BA???
I would ask your surgeon hun as they all seem to give different recommendations on stuff like this, hopefully 2 weeks prior should be ok xxx
Re: Sunbeds before BA???
im just guessing but id have thought as long your not burnt at the time of your op it wont make no differance .......would depend on how long your skin takes to settle after a session , i can have a session and feel fine straight away or sometimes it takes a few days b4 my skin has settled .but after your op keep the scars covered for 12 months with micropore tape (from boots) xxxxxxxxx
ps the reason i say burnt is cus your skin will feel tight after and it gets itchy aswell so this and sunburnt skin would be really uncomftable xxx

I heard not to go on sunbeds before your op cos you should be your real colour while your under the GA. I wouldnt want my boobs to be wrinkly before their time either lol especially when i paid good money for them! x

Re: Sunbeds before BA???
I used sunbeds before me op and I was fine, I can't see why it would be a problem. It's like the 'No mushrooms' rule some clinics make their patients follow, while other clinics say it's ridiculous.
That being said I'd check with your PS before deciding.
