Re: Bra's?????
It all depends on your surgeons post-op instructions littlewisher, if your surgeon thinks you should be in a sportsbra for whatever time he/she thinks best, then yes hunni, you will have to wear a bra for the specified time...
Do you think it's the bra that could possibly give you square boobs? LOL
Some ladies do have square boobs post-op, some have cone shaped boobs, some have globes, but it's all caused by the trauma and swelling and nothing to do with wearing a bra sweetness, once the swelling subsides and tightness of the skin relaxes allowing the implant to drop into the pocket and the swelling to settle your boobs will have a much more natural shape to them... I should imagine by 6 weeks post-op you'll be well on the road to recovery babe and should look ok and not at all 'freakish'

Re: Bra's?????
Surprisingly, many surgeons here in the U.S. actually tell their patients to not wear anything more than a tank top with a built-in shelf bra. Sometimes they'll also suggest wearing an upper-pole strap with no post-op bra. There are also websites selling very good (but very expensive) bras that are specifically made for post-surgery augmented breasts. Many of them have built in upper-pole straps too. While it is probably best to follow the advice of your surgeon, I will probably wear an upper pole strap to assist with dropping with or without my doctors suggestion.

Re: Bra's?????
Thanks cookie! i have one more consultation before the op so i'll ask the surgeon anyways, i was thinking that maybe the sports bra's may make them look square because they are lifting them up more and supporting them (i dont know exactly what i was thinking lol seems stupid now i think about it!)
and fawn im not too sure what an upper pole strap bra is but i might have a look on the internet now see what comes up, not sure i want to buy any expensive bra's yet as i have no idea what size ill end up and dont want to waste the money an not wear it xx

Re: Bra's?????
I would ask your surgeon hun they will be able to tell you how long your have to wear your sports bra for or even if you have to wear one at all. I know a lot of girls wear a strap to encourage unders to drop and your surgeon may use them, I'd ask him/her if he will want you to wear one and if they provide it for you.
Re: Bra's?????
Hi littlewisher, I have been advised to get a sports bra in the size im going to be and a size bigger, my pcc said to just get cheap ones from asda as you pretty much only wear it for 6 weeks, then again i was told also that if i had unders i would be wearing a bind to push them down for the 6 weeks so I would ask to make sure.

Re: Bra's?????
I think part of wearing a supportive bra is to ensure there is as little strain on the incisions as possible. Whenever I took my bra off at the very beginning it felt like the weight was pulling my skin and i was terrified of my scars reopening. I'm sure there are many reasons before and against but the main thing is to do whatever your surgeon advises.
I had unders and my boobs were neither square nor cone shaped after the op
