Gym and Saunas
Hay Ladies,
Is it true its dangerous to use saunas with implants in? I heard they get really hot?
Also how long have people waited to go back to the gym? I am 12days post op and having withdrawal systems!!
I am doing really well although nipples are still very numb..
They seem to be getting smaller :( I am a 32C right now and dreading them shrinking any more! x

Hmmm, not sure about that, if anyone else knows I'd be interested to know the answer?
As for the gym, I went back at about 2 months post op I think (but I'm not a major gym person so maybe I could've gone back earlier?) I think 6 weeks at least is the minimum, and then when you do go back you should try not to do activities that will jiggle them about so much until they're healed up nicely - so no running machines etc. xx

Re: Gym and Saunas
I was told to wait 8 weeks before I returned to the gym hun, but I'd ask your ps, as they all say different things. I think 6 weeks is the least I've heard. I'm sure you'll be fine in the sauna, but you could check that out with your ps. It's still very early days for the nipple numbness, that gets gradually better. xx

Re: Gym and Saunas
Hi Joanne, I hadn't thought about the sauna thing but I suppose the same thing could happen if you went somewhere really really cold, I wonder if they could actually freeze?!! That is quite a scary thought that they could get hot in the sauna and melt or something! I would have thought it would be ok though because people generally aren't in saunas for very long are they?
I have been told at least 6 weeks until I would be able to do any kind of exercise so it's probably best to wait a bit longer.
Maybe its the swelling going down that is making them smaller but then I think they grow again once they have settled, not sure though. What size were you before? I am having 240 implants and hoping to be a c cup.

Re: Gym and Saunas
I use the sauna quite abit and I have never heard that you cant use it if you have implants. If I am wrong on this though someone please correct me.
As for the gym, you can do lower body exercise after 2/3 weeks so crosstrainer, bike aslong as you dont use your upper body although its best to wait 6weeks or until you have the all clear. I went back to both the gym and swimming at 6weeks. Just dont push yourself. I found even after a few months using the chest press and things like the were hard with my implants so I dont use a really heavy weight. xx

Re: Gym and Saunas
Hi Joanne,
Don't know much about the Sauna and that's quite new to me...
For the gym, I've been recommended 4 weeks and 6-8 weeks for something vigorous like heavy lifting.
As Pinkbabe advised, take it slow the first 3 weeks with lower body exercises and don't push yourself.
I'm a gym rat and like you, I'm dying to get back to working out. But I know I'll have to suck it. Think about your new boobs as an investment. Don't want to injure yourself or make anything worse.
Like some of my mates who had boobs done too say, '6 weeks wont kill you!'
xx

Don't worry about the sauna

And as far as the gym goes, I have nooo idea how I'm going to sit around for 6 weeks. I go to the gym at least 5 days a week. I need the endorphins bad and my mood is pretty foul if I get out of my workout routine lol!

Re: Gym and Saunas
The sauna is fine hun, I've been using the sauna for years with implants and haven't had any problems. However, I was told by my surgeon to refrain from using them until I was six weeks post-op due to the risk of infection.
The general guidance for returning to the gym is 6 weeks hun, but you should always check with your surgeon/clinic first. xxx
