scars and sunbathing
This is more for the girls over 12 months post op.
I am meant to be going on holiday in august by which time I will be well over 12 months post op.
I was wondering if I still need to cover my scars with a high suncream? Last year I went away just over 2months post op and I used factor 50 and kept my scars cover under my bikini top. But this year I want to sun bath topless and obviously I will still use suncream just a lower factor.
My scars are not very noticable anymore unless you look closely.
Thanks girls xx

Re: scars and sunbathing
You'll be fine Pinkbabe. I kept mine covered for a year, then they were exposed to sun and sunbeds and remained just a faint line with no changes. xxx
Re: scars and sunbathing
pinkbabe, did you use factor 50 all over?
im just wondering as im trying to do a family holiday in july and i will be just 2 months post op,
i never thought to ask the surgeon about sun bathing after the op,

No hun just on the scars and on my boobs cos the skin is streching and therefore sensetive so I didnt want it burning. x

Re: scars and sunbathing
Hi hun,
I will be one year post op in 3 weeks. I went to Mexico 3 months ago so would have been 9 months post op then. I just put my usual factor 30 on and then just rubbed some into my scars to be on the safe side. I'm going on holiday in June and probably won't bother putting suncream on the scars this time around as they have faded to silver now and you can barely see them. So, the sun didn't affect my scars at all.
Have a fab time

I don't know the answer but I'm just reading this thinking wow I've never even considered sunbathing topless before, I've got soooo much to look forward to when I've got nice boobs!!

Re: scars and sunbathing
Hi Pinkbabe,
My PS told me 18 months for sun and scars......I've just come back from hols and didn't go topless as was in waterparks when in a bikini! But I covered mine in factor 50 just in case it rode up and exposed my scars. I'll be one year post op in June.
I guess we are all given different advice though.
xxxx Oh and have fun!!

Re: scars and sunbathing
After a year i wouldnt worry about putting factor 50 on them, if going topless i would just put your usual cream over all your boobs x
Re: scars and sunbathing
Thanks everyone. I will use a suncream on them probs a high-ish factor like 25 and if I feel them burning just like any other part of my body I'll cover up. x
