Starting the Allergan ?Nagor debate again!! Empty Starting the Allergan ?Nagor debate again!!

Post by kayla 8th April 2010, 10:35 pm

I am booked with James McDiarind through MyBreast and obviously MyBreast now use Nagor implants. On searcing for info today on the two brands apparently Allergan are 'better'.
So, I phoned MyBreast and asked how much to swap from Nagor to Allergan Inspiras and the difference is £850!!!!!!!

That seems mad, totally mad. Is there a better deal to be done on this price?? And is it even worth the effort? i.e are allergans really that much better?

Jeez, I've swapped one lot of indecision about booking and surgeon to another!!

Thanks for any replies xx

Hey kayla, when I first started looking into surgery with MB they used Allergan but now I've booked they have offered me the option of either as that's what they had initally when I first started. But I've decided to go with the Nagors firstly because my surgeon thinks they're just as good, secondly because they also have a lifetime guarntee ( one of the reasons Allergan was appealing) and thirdly they have more range and sizes than the Natrelle, I would have had to have a smaller implant with the Natrelle for my BWD and fourthly when I squeezed the Allergans in one hand and the Nagors in the other the Nagors were a lot softer/squidier

I don't know many girls that have had it long enough to ask them questions but as long as my surgeon is confident and I get a replacement in case of capsular contracture and rupture then I'm happy!!

As a side note the person that created McGhan and sold it to Allergan set up Nagor

Allergan Inspiras are FDA approved kayla, Nagor are not, that would be the reason for the price increase hunni. xxx

I have Nagor impants and i'm very happy with them. When I had my very first consultation with my surgeon I told him that I wanted the best implant I could have, no matter what the price. He assured me that the Nagor implants (the ones that Mybreast now use) were just as good as Allergan and the reason Mybreast were now using Nagor, was simply down to them just getting a better deal. My surgeon was very happy with this implant and that was good enough for me!

In addition, I also did my own reaserch on Nagor and was happy with what I'd found.

I was told Nagors always used to be a cheaper option but now they are just as good as Allergans, I don't think one is any better than the other, they are about the same.

I agree with Starz-10. My PS will decide on the day which implant to use and it will be either Allergan Inspiras or Nagor Impleo. I know some people pay more to have the Allergan ones but I would be happy with either.

I have had Nagor implants put in. My implant was chosen for me from a range of implant makes to suit my BWD and desired size as closely as possible. The Nagor make was the best fit for me. Also i was really impressed with how they felt to the touch - very squishy and natural!!

Thanks girls, I had read a post from someone on a diff forum which was replied to by their 'on board' plastic surgeon and he said that they were very good implants. And THIS generation of Nagor's were totally different from the old Nagor's. He also said that he had tried on behalf of a patient, to get the lifetime guarantee on the Allergans fullfilled but was ''awaiting decision'' whilst the Nagor implantee was cleared for a reop very quickly.
I guess if they stand behind theuir guarantee then that's worth its weight in gold.

It was just hearing all the Allergans are the Bees Knees stuff theat made me think twice and also on the £ of them, I am paying £4650 and can't understand how they could have used Allergans just a few months previously for this amount, even allowing for the buying in fee MyBreast would have to pay now that they don't use Allergans as standard. Me thinks they are making a LOT more money per BA!!

Thanks so much for you replies girls, really great to hear how the Nagor's feel and the size choices etc. xx

I had a consultation with MB just as they were moving from Allergan to Nagor, they had already changed company for rounds but not for anatomicals, so I had the Allergans but would have been happy with either.

The 850 is to buy them in specially I think, since they're no longer contracted with Allergan to supply them with implants they don't get the special bulk price.

Either way Allergans are still more expensive than Nagors and I don't see that they've adjusted they're price to reflect this cut in overhead... so they probably are making more money. Still cheaper for me than going with my surgeon direct so I don't mind
