Are stretch marks common?
I don't see how it would be possible for me to have BA and not get stretch marks? Does anyone know how common stretch marks are and are there any factors that contribute to getting them?

Re: Are stretch marks common?
I have read that going from really small to quite large can increase your chances of getting them. Its also in ur genes. If u already have them or they run in ur family, that can play a part. Just use alot of coco butter or bio oil up until ur BA and then afterwards and hopefully that will help. My friend went from an A to a DD and she has no marks at all so it just depends on your skin.

I think it definitely depends on your skin Starz, I've not got any stretch marks and even managed to carry my twins without getting any and I never used any lotions and potions.

Re: Are stretch marks common?
Hi hun, I have stretchmarks all over my legs and arms and was paranoid I'd have them from my BA, I plastered myself in plamers cocoa butter and boi oil before and after my op. I also put tea tree oil in my bath which is supposed to be very good for skin. I haven't got one stretch mark. Some people get them some don't. Just because you have them else where doesn't mean you will get them.
Re: Are stretch marks common?
I got stretchmarks on my hips when i was pregnant..but not my tummy! I'm the same as Misf1-i used Palmers before my BA and after and went from being almost completely flat to 30F/FF and i don't have any marks on my boobs!

Re: Are stretch marks common?
No matter how much you try to avoid stretch marks, some women just have weaker collegen than others and no creams, oils, lotions or potions will prevent them (there isn't anything on the market that has been proven to avoid stretch marks) cocoa butter and bio-oil and like do however help to soften them out.
I have stretch marks on my boobs from breast feeding my children. They don't bother me and they're barely visible, infact, unless I showed someone, they wouldn't know they were there.

Re: Are stretch marks common?
I agree with what the girls have said, there's no harm in taking that bit of extra care in your skin but nothing guarantees that you won't get them. It is very much gene related hun!

Re: Are stretch marks common?
Hey hunny, it's all down to your genes unfortunately so you can't always predict it. Some people's skin stretches more than others without being damaged. I've had 2 babies and were really lucky not to get any stretch marks at all yet I do have them on my hips from growing up!
My PS won't go over a certain size for me however to prevent 'overstretching the skin'.

Re: Are stretch marks common?
Hey hun
Unfortunately I'm one of those women who suffer with stretch marks and dreaded them after my BA. It was only a few months after my op that they hit me. They were deep red, quite thick and really got me down.
But perserverence with bio oil and they are turning silver. I'm really happy now! X

Re: Are stretch marks common?
The only place I have stretch marks is on my boobs, however this was from my first pregnancy - I think mine are really bad and hate them but my implants don't make them look as bad - I have never gotten anymore from either of my BA's or subsequent pregnancies. xx

Re: Are stretch marks common?
Stretch marks seem very unpredictable then! I already have stretch marks on other parts of my body so I think I will start using bio oil now just in case! x
