Have I hit a brick wall?
Ok. Just been reading a few op stories, and now having doubts about managing post op.
My best mate will stay with me for atleast one night, maybe 2 (she's dog sitting for me). I have great neighbours that will be there like a shot if needed. What I'm not sure of at this time, is how I am going to cope with the dogs. ie letting them out in the morning and feeding them. It may be that my son will be at home and he can see to this, but TBH I was hoping I could send the kids to their dads for 5 days, and cope on my own.
Will I really be so useless that I wont be able to get up to feed the dogs and let them out? I cant ask my neighbours to do that. Not bothered about anything else. I can make sure everything else is ready prior to op.

Re: Have I hit a brick wall?
I was up and about the next day.It is really sore but not impossible to do stuff.
Bending down to feed them might be tricky, bending is akward and a bit painful.
I suppose it differs person to person, good luck:)

Re: Have I hit a brick wall?
You'll be fine hun.
You'll be uncomfortable but not incapable. Just make sure everything you need for the pooches is in reach, so you don't have to reach and stretch, My dogs have dried food, but just thinking, if yours have tinned? maybe get your friend to open the tins needed to last a few days after she's gone home and pop in sealed containers and leave in the fridge till required and don't go walking them till a week after when you should start to feel more like yourself hun, leave it a while longer if your dogs pull when walking. But opening doors to let them out and feeding the dogs - Yeah, you'll have no problems at all with that babe. xxx

You should be able to manage these things like the others have said, may take a little longer than usual, but doable. I had full unders and managed fine and undertook the whole journey alone. Anything is possible if you want it enough. I just laughed at the things that I found strange and could do nothing about....slowly does it........most of all enjoy xx

Re: Have I hit a brick wall?
Hi hun
It all depends on the person and how they react to the GA too. I was really fortunate and had no pain at all, just discomfort.
I went out for a meal the day after I came out of surgery once I got back from the hospital.
Cookie is right though if you have tinned food perhaps if you can have it as prepared as you can as I couldnt even open the screw top on a carton of juice - just had zero strength !!
Also put everything you need at wasit height so that you don't need to stretch up and you should be just fine

Re: Have I hit a brick wall?
This is good news. Thanks for your replies. Yeh, they are all on dry food, and they can all manage without walks for a week (they are used to that with my MS), they play loads and have a good run in the garden.
Actually, just had a word with my son, he's 14 and a good kid. I said I was hoping for the op during the summer hols and he has agreed to stay at home and help with the dogs if needed. So, complications aside, the dogs are covered by my son, and I am covered by my 2 neighbours.

Re: Have I hit a brick wall?
I have two Newfoundlands (huge dogs). I haven't walked them but feel I could have coped on my own with general feeding etc. You will be sore but not immobile! I think you will cope
