newbie with worrys
hiya all, i posted in the say hello board and didint realise i wasnt allowed to ask questions so have copied it over here,
i have booked my consultation for next thursday
i am currently a small 34b and wish to go up to a medium d
i dont want to look fake so not sure what type of implants to go for, im sure this will all be explained to me at the consultation,
my main worry is the pain, i have 3 young kids who are very active and will jump all over me, is it very painful after? can i drive? excercise?
i am a tummy sleeper also will i be able to do that again?
will i be up to my eyes in pain killers?
i wont be telling anyone either apart from my mum kids and hubby,
i am in west sussex
thanks

Re: newbie with worrys
Hi and welcome to the site. I had an uplift so a bit more painful than just a straight forward BA, so a BA sounds like a walk in the park compared to what my recovery was like.
Pain wise it depends on if you have overs or unders. Unders is more uncomfortable than painful, but as you've had 3 babies its nothing in comparison.
With regards to your little ones, you'll just have to try and keep them from jumping on you as it may hamper your recovery. You'll manage though. The worse part for me was not being able to cuddle my baby, but after 2 weeks I could hold him close to my chest for a cuddle again.
Yes you will be able to sleep on your tummy again, probably after a couple of months they'll be soft enough for it to be comfortable.
I didn't get given much in the way of pain killers, I was told to take paracetamol, my PS didn't like to prescribe it because of the side effects (constipation).
Good luck with your consult, who are you seeing?

Re: newbie with worrys
Ooops... I ended up posting it on the wrong one! Sorry
bumblelady, I've been assured that's it's discomfort you feel rather than pain if you have over the muscle. I'm smaller than you pre-op and am having overs so this may be what you are recommended.
I have 2 very small children who climb all over me all the time. My hubby will be at home for the first week after the op and then I'll be on my own. My PS didn't seem to think this was a problem.
I'm sure you'll be some reassurance at your consultation. Where are you going? Good luck xx

Re: newbie with worrys
im not sure who i am seeing yet, i have consultation at bupa in gatwick then i have it done at a hospital near east grinstead i think,
i do want the unders done,
why cant you drive for a week? i dont no how i will get my kids to school i have no family able to help they all work,
im not sure how i will cope sleeping upright, why cant i lay on my back?
will they hurt to touch for quite a while? will i be able to cuddle up to hubby at night?
what is the different with overs and unders apart from where they go, do they look different under the skin? i dont want them looking fake
sorry loads of questions lol

Re: newbie with worrys
Hi bumblelady! :wavey:
Initially on coming home, you'll feel very tired from the anaesthetic, you'll also probably be taking painkillers too so it won't be advisable to drive whilst taking those. Also, it's illegal to drive unless you can safely do an emergency stop, being so uncomfortabe and on painkillers in the first week, this just won't be possible.
Can you not arrange for a friend to do the school run for you in the first week? Or arrange to have your BA around a time when your husband can get some time off from work, or maybe during school holidays?
You do cope hun, it isn't comfortable, but you realise it's what's needed to be done, just until the swelling goes down, and then you can lay on your back.
They'll be uncomfortable, yes, but nothing you won't be able to cope with hun. For a couple of days to a week you really won't want anything near your chest, but after that, sure, you'll be fine to have a cuddle if you feel up to it.
Other than the positioning (overs = over the muscle. Unders = under the muscle) there will be no difference post-op in appearance if your surgeon has chosen the correct placement and sized implant for you. I've seen fantastic unders and overs and also some fake looking ones in both placements too. xxx

Hi Hun
I'm in West Sussex too!!
I'm also in the same boat as you with regards to small children, I have 2 under 4. My husband is about to take a new job and won't be able to take leave so I'm just praying it won't be too painful after. God knows how I'm going to manage but I'm sure we'll muddle through!

Re: newbie with worrys
wow thanks for the replys, i dont have anyone to help with the school runs, hubby leaves for work before i get up and is home late in the evenings,
he cant have any time off either as we have a couple of holidays booked,
i thought having overs they would be visible as in alot more rounded than breast shaped, :/
i see what u mean about driving, i will really miss my gym also,
do you swell up loads then?
when do boobs start looking fake? is it when you go up such a high size and ur skin really stretches?

Re: newbie with worrys
The only suggestion I can give then if you have absolutely no help right now is to either wait until school holidays when the children are home anyway, or to wait till next year hun when your husband can arrange for some of his holidays to be able help you whilst you recover. There's a lot to consider when sorting out your BA isn't there and it really isn't easy with small children to consider, but you're going to need at least some help sweetness.
I think if you opt for an implant size that is too large for your frame, with either unders or overs, the implant is visible.
It's also the case when a woman doesn't have enough breast tissue to accomodate overs. If there isn't enough breast tissue to cover the implant, again the implant will be visible.
Your surgeon will advise you on what the best placement will be to help you achieve the look you aim for. xxx

Re: newbie with worrys
If you've got nobody to help, then probably best to get it done during the school holidays, at least you wont have to get up, get dressed, get kids dressed etc, you can all just relax in your pj's and they can look after mummy.
I think overs look different to unders, to me overs look more rounded and easier to achieve a bum cleavage and unders look more natural. If I see someone on tele I and they are sporting a cleavage, I can just tell if they are overs or unders as I spent so long looking at boobs, I'm sure I'm not the only one
I couldn't drive as my chest muscles just weren't strong enough for me to turn the wheel, and when I pulled the muscle, god did it hurt. I didn't even attempt to drive for 2 weeks.
Mine did swell up loads, but I had an uplift aswell, everybody is different.
I think they look fake when they are massive overs, so too big for your frame, like Jordans :boobstick:

Re: newbie with worrys
Hi and .
I have 3 small children too .
As the other ladies have said, school holidays is a good option.
I had mine done in the October half term so didn't need to worry about school and nursery runs. I did need help for the first two weeks (my mum came to stay) as I had partial unders and my youngest was only 10months at the time so still needed lifting a lot.
I didn't drive for a week either as I was in too much discomfort (unders are more painful and have longer recovery time) when I did I found I was fine in my automatic but my hubbys manual was still a bit tricky with the gear changes.
