Had my Pre-Op. Bit of A Downer :(
I had my pre op at Transform today. I had asked previously if I could take my little girl- apparantly it would be no problem. I took my 2 best friends with me- we got a bit lost (I don't live in London!) and arrived 20 mins late.
The receptionist said I would have to wait 15 minutes to see the nurse which was fair enough... I waited nearly an hour. The nurse then told me Evie couldn't come in so I had to leave her crying outside with my friend
The nurse was male. I understand he's still qualified etc etc but I would have preferred a female nurse or at least prior warning I would be seeing a bloke. he took my photos and I just felt so embarrassed If it was a woman I would have felt much more relaxed. A nurse is supposed to be friendly and calming!
I have booked to have my strapping removed on Friday 13th November so I have to travel up to London again but at least I know not to take Evie!
I feel so nervous about my operation now- I thought it would be really relaxed and positive today but it felt really awkward- I'm worried all the staff are like that. I expected a brisk manner from my surgeon (Khan) but not the nurses
ANYWAY- 13 sleeps until my new boobies and nothing- not even a rude nurse- can stop me!!

Ooooh hun that doesn't sound good. Please try not to let it worry you - your up day will be totally different. I really enjoyed mine looking back on it. Sounds like a bit of a nightmare, stressful day but try to forget about it and just look forward to your op.

Hmm.... you shouldve had a chaparone if the nurse was male and taking photos. I wouldnt have been happy either - he was probably as embarrased as you and thats why he came across funny (no excuse though). He shouldnt really be doing that job if he cant relax his patients and to me was unproffesional (I am a nurse too and feel compelled to apologise on his behalf)
Im sure the rest of your experience will be good but maybe let the clinic know your feelings so they can address it for future patients.
xx

I bet you we've had the same nurse! Does he have an american accent? Looks a bit chinese??? I was really shocked when i saw i was having a male nurse too and i did feel really uncomfortable stripping off in front of him.
I'm back at Transform on 13 Nov too! What time are you up there hun? x

That's an awful way for you to be treated, I'd complain to your pc, you should have at least been warned that it was a male nurse and you should have been offered a chaperone.
Still, don't let it get you down, not long now , x

That doesn't sound right! I wouldn't have wanted a male nurse either and you should have had a chaperone - I always had to have one even with my surgeon! At least its over now and you can count down to your op now!

Unless you say anything, you'll be stuck with him for your 10 day and 6 week post op checks as well. I saw him 3 times in all. x

Sorry hun but i found all my nurses to be like that & the one who cared for me on the day off my op was down right rude!!!!!!
I had what i would class as really bad treatment from the Transform company workers but i loved my surgon & he was great its made me feel like telling him on my 3 month appiontment they they really let him down!.
I have read quite a few comments about all the companys saying people are quite rude so i get the feeling its a genral thing in plastic surgury as i got threated better in the nhs!

I agree with the others you deffo should've had a chaperone.......... I don't want to make anyone unnecessarily worried but if something untoward happened
If this happens again you're well within your rights to request another female be there with you

i agree with everyone you should have been warned and asked if you would like a chaperone. i have a medical background and had to accompany male collegues all the time, and dont forget your paying for a private service aswell.xxxxxx (i have a degree in health sciences).xxxxx

AW Jade!!
Not good eh!! I thik you need to remember you are employing them to provide a professional service...and that is missing, tell them.
Soo sorry!! You and Evie had planned a lovely day out too...soo wrong treating you like that, especially as you had prearranged it!! I think you need to air your thoughts and feeelings before it occurrs again, to enable the rest of your journey to be stree free.
Anyway it is done now!! Hope you feel a bit better xxxxxxxxx

I agree with Anne, I think thats awful you definately should've been chaperoned. I have a female in the room everytime i'm with my surgeon (and he's the surgeon now some 'nurse''). Sorry about your little Evie too hun. Not long to go now xx
Re: Had my Pre-Op. Bit of A Downer :(
That must have made you feel horrible, at least that's over & done with now though and it should be alot better on the day for you, not long now until you've got your boobies x x

Re: Had my Pre-Op. Bit of A Downer :(
Hey hun,
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience.
I had Dennis as my nurse and found him to be really nice. I had my mum in with me for my pre op appointment and my OH came with me for my 10 day post op check up. On the last one, I went in by myself.
Maybe he was having a bad day, which is no excuse, but I wouldn't worry too much hun. I'm sure your post op check ups will be a much more pleasant experience.
They do have other nurses there I'm sure, you could always ask to change to another one.
Not long to go now!

13 more sleeps! Wow I remember when you were first on the site honey. How quick has that gone (although I bet it doesn't seem like that for you).
Hmm nurse in jeans.... that's a bit shoddy in my opinion although maybe they have a dress down day?? (just a thought!)
At least thats over with and you can begin the count down. You'll be in single figures before you know it!

Re: Had my Pre-Op. Bit of A Downer :(
I think my nurse had a dress down day for my pre-op too! Lol. She had a red bandana on and commented on my jeans. Transform have a jeans thing obviously. I have to say, I made a complaint about my nurse as I didn't get my next day call back to see if I was ok. This made me lose a bit of confidence in her. I requested another nurse but she's the only one at my clinic. So I then thought 'oh god she'll know when I go in and be funny with me...' She didn't have time to be funny my 10 day check was so quick. I see her and my PS on the 9th Nov. I just hope my coordinator hasn't said anything and will wait until I have been signed off before telling her off (if at all she will).
The staff at the hospital were fantastic as was my surgeon, so to me that was the main thing. Put it behind you and think of your wonderful new boobies. Have you decided on 410 or 460 yet? xxx
