me too!!
Hi
Just saw your post and felt the need to reply. I had a BA 5 years ago(not PIP implants) May 04. May 08 I found a lump in my armpit,I went to my GP and was referred to my local breast clinic. I had a scan that showed up the lump along with 5 other swollen lymph nodes!!! They thought at first it may be a reaction to the implant but wanted to investigate further. I had an MRI scan just before xmas and this showed no obvious leak from the implant but the consultant wasnt happy with this and wanted to run further test. I had an operation in March this year and it was found that the lymh nodes were full of silicome which suggested the implant was leaking and travelling through my lymphatic system!! I was then referred to a NHS plastic surgeon but couldnt get an appointment until June this year. In the meantime I contacted the clinic I went through, explained the situation and was offered an app the following week to see the surgeon who did my BA. I took all letters, findings etc from the hospital to show him and he felt sure that it was just particals from the implant and that there was nothing to worry about.
I then had an appointment to see the NHS plastic surgeon in June, a month after my 5 year rupture cover ran out!!!! He felt that the best thing would to have them removed. I contacted the clinic again and explained what I had been told and I was booked into see the surgeon the following week. It was agreed that I could have a re op for free and was booked in for this within 3 weeks!!
I had my re op last Monday and all has been fine so far.
For a whole year I was having tests etc and you can imagine to stress I went through thinking it may be the big 'C'. I cant thank the clinic enough for all their support.
Im really sorry for all the pain you have been going through and I really hope you get somewhere with your solicitors help.

oh what a nightmare for you!!!
I really hope you can get this sorted asap at the least cost & inconvenience to yourself, we get our BA's and assume if everything is ok after a year it will always be ok but this is so not the case, wishing you all the best x x

Thankyou Roxy
It has all been a bit of a nightmare! Im going back to the clinic to have my stiches out tomorrow so hope to find out a little more. They were Allergen implants. The surgeon kept telling me that rupture is very uncommon but the most common reason for rupture is 'rough handling'!!!

Hi
I think I may have just been one of the unlucky ones. I do however think there is some truth in what he said about it being partcals leaving the wall of the implant, just seems odd the the MRI didnt pick up a major leak but the NHS ps did say he could see somehting on the back of the left one which was the side that I found the lumps. The implanst themselves stayed the same shape.
I went through Transfrom, the same surgeon did my re op. They werent PIP implants,

Did the surgeon weigh your implants after they were removed? That's probably the easiest way to find out the amount of silicon gel missing, if any.

Thats a good point Snake. I was going to ask if there was any obvious rupture to the implant when they took them out too.
Glad you had it sorted tho.

Hi
No there was no obvious rupture to the implant so it does suggest that small particals were coming away from the implant wall-which is what my ps said in the first place!
Think the NHS ps was just being cautious and to be honest I feel a lot more comfortabe knowing that I have new implants in.
I can still feels the lumps in my armpit but they dont bother me and arent sore in any way.
Just glad its all over now and I can start the enjoy my new boobs!!

Wow.. this is like reading my own story!... I totally understand the stress and fears you had during your time having the lymph nodes investigated.
I'm about to have my re-op at the end of November, but have had a bit of a battle with Transform over cost, I was told by my NHS consultant that because my initial op was done privately, I wouldn't be able to have the implants exchanged through the NHS, so I had to go back to Transform, so reading your story, I think you've been very well treated where you live....
I too have Allergen implants, not sure what make yours are, but mine are CUIs, I'm told I have a spontaneous rupture, which is unexplained, sometimes unfortunately, for whatever reasons some of us unlucky girls have to deal with this... it's just one of those risks we all take out when having an augmentation and nothing we do can prevent it, no matter how careful you are....
Glad you're all sorted now and moving forward with your new boobies... I'm not far behind ya!!

Hi girls
Just wondering, how do you know if you have a rupture ? can you feel it, do you feel unwell in yourself or do your breasts change shape/size ?
Hope you dont mind me asking, just always good to know these things for the future.
Thanks and I hope you all get / got sorted out with your problems.
