helan tape
hello all x
i went to my 6 week check up with adam topping and he said they are great! (bet he says that to all the girls) hehe well he looked at my scars and said they were a bit red, the right one did go funny until dh managed to get out what i think were 2 undisolved knots. he suggested using helan tape to put over scars for at least another 4 weeks its meant to keep the scar moist. he also said i could used insulation tape lol not sure about that tho. he said i need to stop the scars from drying out and will help them to heal nicer.
has anyone used this tape? or can anyone give me some advice as to what to use, i was using bio oil but not being able to apply 3 times a day its prob not helping that much
thanks in advance
sarah

Re: helan tape
Hi hun, I haven't used tape just been applying bio oil twice a day, it seems to be doing the trick. Although I know other people have used scar reduceing tape an gel and they have had good results. I'm sure someone will be along to help out more.
Re: helan tape
Oooh, our nurse has gone on hols as well. Maybe try asking your pharmasist or if in doubt ask your surgeon what he recommends and where you can buy it.

Never heard of using insulating tape before! :)
Have you tried googling helan? Maybe you could get it from an on-line pharmacy. Also erhaps give his clinic a ring to see if they know where you can get it from. x

Re: helan tape
Hi Sarah,
No, I think you were clear, but I was scanning too quickly - sorry :)
I didn't use any tape but have been massaging in dermatix twice daily. My surgeon recommended quite a firm massage with the index finger to help break up the scar material ...

Re: helan tape
I nkow some surgeons don't really recommend the scar plasters as scars will heal up in their own time, maybe just a bit slower.
I'd se what youer surgeon thinks is best. Maybe scar plasters are a good idea and Boots never run out of that stuff, if not then see if you can use some electrical tape to tide you over.
