Why is there double D but not double B etc?
Just been reading posts about sizing and I've decided bra sizes are STUPID
Most of us now know your rib measurement in inches where the band sits is your ACTUAL band size - and NOT to add anything to that, but that still leaves the confusing cup size part.
What is the actual sequence in cup sizes? Is it A, AA, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, H ....? This makes no sense with the double sizes to me? Who the heck invented this?! Why are there double sizes in the first place, there are 26 letters in the alphabet that's plenty lol.
Seriously the whole sizing thing needs to be regulated and updated! Especially as 28"-30" band sizes and smaller seem really hard to find and I'm sure ladies who are at the larger end of the spectrum struggle too.

Stoooopid isn't it! And what's more confusing is that I think AA comes before A. So why does DD come after D? Argh! X

The real reason? Vanity, and the perception of size. People have this weird ingrained thing about large sizes, ask anyone on here who's gone in looking for a nice D and come out 32FF. "Thats enormous" they exclaim "but they dont look that big!!" And theres the catch - its how big you think things are. I blame men entirely.
The correct pattern is AAA (-1) AA (0) A (1) (because you cant have less than A, so double up). B (2) C (3) D (4) DD (5). I believe this is because they look like boobs. Again, men. Heres where it diverges across the US, because they have DDD, where as we go to E (6) F (7) FF (8) G (9) GG (10), doubling up from herein. You have to admit...saying JJ sounds 'smaller' than an N cup.
