Capsular Contracture...problem number 3!! Empty Capsular Contracture...problem number 3!!

Post by _wildflower_ 18th January 2016, 6:43 pm

Went to see my surgeon today about the scarring that is still flaring up 7 months post op! Apparently all fine and is probably sutures pushing their way out where they havnt dissolved.

Also asked if they will get any softer as the right one is still pretty hard n high up...so its capsular contracture grade 2 and grade 1 in the left one ....she was like oh that's just something that happens! Great.

the scar around my nipple is bad and it was meant to be trimmed to be the same size as the other one but its just stretched back to the original size anyway...and the scar on the right is on my ribs instead of in the crease!!

Just feel a bit disheartened was not expecting anything to be perfect but can anything else go wrong this is the 3rd problem!!!

Anyone else had grade 2 capsular contracture? Any advice???

Oh no hun, that's a shock, how are you, and what has he said he will need to do to resolve?
Did you have any inkling you had CC, and how did he know, just by feeling them or did he have to scan you?

Really feeling for you, there a nuisance and high maintenance these implants aren't they.....even if it all goes plain sailing.

Hope your ok AND NOT IN ANY DIS-COMFORT, xx

Everyone has grade one. The problem is we hear capssular contracture and immediately think it's a complication. Grade one is purely the natural scar capsule that forms around the implant. Grade 2 is still negligable, and most clinics won't cover it. There still could be some softening yet, so don't give up hope. Grade 3 is when you get the real 'contracture', when it starts getting very tight and mishapen. That's when the surgeons will step in.

I wouldn't get too disheartened about it. Just keep and eye, maybe keep taking pics every 2wks or so to check for change or movement. But you should be ok.

Hey I wrote a whole message here and lost it!

So she said grade 2 is not enough to do anything about it it is just something that happens. Rather annoying as the implant has been tight since it was placed and has never loosened up or dropped...and now apparently that is how it is staying~!!! Wouldnt mind so much if it was hard and in the right place!

This is also why I still have a scar on my ribs. I cant help but feel the implant has never had any space to move around or drop into like the other one has it has just always been hard??

It literally hasnt got softer since its been there! I went to my surgeon to talk about the issues but she is so bloody nice and shrugs everything off like it is nothing and I dont feel like I can say any more!

Is it worth getting a second opinion do you recon?

Always, especially if you feel your surgeon isn't taking you seriously.

I wouldn't be happy with her response. you paid a lot so have confidence to challenge if things they aren't what you discussed up front. Maybe email your thoughts first so it's easier to fully convey what you're not happy with and why. But yes defo get a 2nd opinion. Maybe do a post/question on real self website?

It sounds to me like the pocket wasn't dissected enough. I had revision for similar as my right was up high and cc. I had capsulotomy and the pocket was made bigger to pull the implant down. It still sits aprx 2cm higher but not immediately obvious

So went to see Mrs Kat today!

She is sure that my surgeon will fix the stretched areola for me no problem, and she will actually speak to her about it on my behalf, as they are good friends, she said too book in with Ann for about 2 weeks time and she will have spoke to her in the mean time! So that it good progress and I feel relieved.

She said the scar that is on show will improve over time and not to worry about it.

She thinks they are different profile implants which is why they appear differently but its still a good job.

I think the areola issue makes it look a hell of a lot worse!

Also...she said that if she was doing it (and added that she was not saying it is the 'right' way but just her preference) she would have removed tissue from the larger size so that they are the same and then put 2 matching implants in....which makes so much sense to me!!Dammit!!

Soooo its too late for that now but may be something I consider in the future.

She also explained that the stretching can happen from the pressure of the implant stretching the skin and it can be sorted out very easily by using gortex stitching which is very strong and permanent rather than dissolvable, it would remain inside the body holding it together so it does not stretch. This answer is similar to the answers I received on realself too.....

So..

I will book to see my surgeon then and will see how that goes...
