So Disappointed! Empty So Disappointed!

Post by CartoonUnicorn 10th November 2015, 2:18 pm

I just got my blood results and I won't be having my ops this week either. My thyroid still isn't quite right so they are saying I have to see my doctor then get blood tests again in a months' time. The problem is, my levels have been at this result for years even though my meds have been up and down, and this particular part of the blood test can't be changed with medication. If they increase my meds one aspect will be too high, if they decrease them, the one that they have tested twice will drop even lower. I'm not sure I will ever be in the right range they are requesting.

I'm really gutted. I had no problems having surgery in the US back in July and I feel absolutely fine. They did question it then, but decided it wasn't too far out of the normal range. My thyroid levels are only just out of 'normal' range and have been exactly the same level for years. I might not ever get these procedures with Transform if they insist on being inside these levels though. I'm so freakin stressed and upset.

I can't have my ops too close to Christmas either, because I have to drive my partner to see his kids on Christmas Day, there is no public transport from where we live.

Cartoon Im so sorry how disappointing....

Can you ask for an appointment with your surgeon and have an honest chat with him. At this rhythm you basically can't have plastic surgery in the UK. Ask him why that level is acceptable in the US and not here?
Ask him as a doctor what he suggests to help.

Dont give up lovely ! Even if it happens after christmas they'll still be perfect for the summer. XX

I did see a few at MYA but decided against them. I'm having a Labiaplasty at the same time and need a surgeon who can do both ops.

The problem with going with big companies like Transform / THG etc is that they need to have everything spot on and perfect in order to go ahead, there is so much red tape because they are worried about possible law suits etc.  Their aftercare is generally AMAZING compared to a lot of other surgeons and they make all sorts of promises in their packages re correction surgery etc which independant surgeons can't afford to make.  Hence them needing to know they are not opening a can of worms by them doing surgery on you!  Yes it is for their own safety but also to cover their own backs!

Like Mrs F said if you can't get anywhere by talking to your surgeon why not go and see some independant plastic surgeons - you can be honest with them and I'm sure if they got a doctors report they wouldn't be quite so particular as Transform.  I don't see why if a doctor can sign you off for having surgery that you can't get it done!  It might be worth having in your head that realistically you might not now get it done before Christmas - you will need time to start over and get some more opinions.  You will get there - its just a frustrating pause thats all! xxx

Ooo a double op, don't envy you. Maybe that's why they are being so particular with your bloods? I do hope you can get to chat with your surgeon, see what he thinks xx

So sorry to hear that. The issue also lies that transform practice in clinics without other medical services, so if there was an emergency, they'd need to ambulance you to an Nhs hospital. Hence they like their patients to be very straightforward. I would discuss with surgeon to see if there is anything you can do to get around the requirement, and if not look into a private hospital suegeon for your op. Sorry it seems to be so frustrating for you x

Really sorry to hear this is happening to you, I can only imagine how frustrating it must be. Try and keep your try up and maybe explore talking to other surgeons? Maybe try private? Xx

I agree with the above, it might be time to look into a private surgeon rather than a commercial company. Their hospitals would be more prepared to deal with anything should it go wrong. I'd also have a chat with your GP or whoever is looking after your thyroid. If thats 'normal' for you, maybe you can get a letter explaining this to the clinic? Might help to move things along?

I went to my GP yesterday. I think the first step is to see what happens once my meds are altered after the month. She changed my dose in the hopes that everything will level out. I'm having another blood test in a month's time and I'll see how I go from there.

It's really hard when you have wanted something for so long, in my case 25 years since I was 13. It's finally JUST within reach and then seemingly snatched away. You start to question "do I deserve this", "maybe it's never meant to be" and all sorts of other silly things. The fact is, it's good that my overall health is being looked at and maybe even finally sorted when all my previous doctors just said I had to put up with it. Maybe this is going to all be for the best.

I just need patience.. and to learn to enjoy life even when things don't go to plan. I really appreciate all the kind messages and support. You guys are awesome! Xxx

Positive thinking.  :ok:
This WILL happen, you deserve this, its just going to take a little longer than you had hoped.
I feel so bad for you, I would be a wreck having been so close.

Hope it all gets sorted for you, and at the end of it....GETTING THEM BOOBIES!
