So disappointed!
Well ive waited a few weeks to see if I can have my BA and today I get the phone call saying I can't have it done! I was booked in for the 24th sept and with me having an overactive thyroid I had to have blood tests and wait for the anesthetist to decide if I could have it done and she has obviously decided I can't. I know she has put my health first and I'm really grateful for that but I'm just so upset when I have waited for this for so long.... Just don't know what to do now :-(

Aww thats awful news. Did the tests say your still over-active? R u on meds to suppress the thyroid? Maybe it will just be a case of waiting until your thyroid levels normalize before they will operate. Sending hugs

Re: So disappointed!
Yeah im still over active and on meds. Thought at my last appointment at the hospital I was nearly back to normal so I thought by now I would be. I think by the phone call I had they want me to have the radio iodine or operation on my thyroid before I have a BA but I would rather stay on the meds because your more thank likely to go under active if u have any of them n put on quite a bit of weight which I know people have. Thanks x x

Your health is what's most important sweetheart yes, but your disappointment is totally understandable. I'm so sorry for you Laura
Was your surgery with MyBreast? I'm unsure which hospitals they use but I know quite a few private cosmetic surgery hospitals don't have high dependency units and this is the reason why when someone who comes to them with a health problem might get refused surgery because if they did present a risk during surgery, they just don't have the facilities available to them should you need a little extra help during or after surgery.
Now, I don't know for sure if this will help you, but we did have one member here who had a blood disorder, she was refused surgery by quite a few clinics because of her health issues and the only place that would consider her was BMI, this being because they do have the facilities there and she went on to successfully have her BA done.
I don't want to get your hopes up in any way Laura, but it might be worth having a consultation with a surgeon of your choice through them and seeing what they have to say? I'd just be honest with them lovely and see if they might be able to help you?
Like I said, please don't get your hopes up, what might be right for one woman may not be right for another, but I just thought I'd mention what I remembered about her situation and what she was told incase you might like to give them a try before giving up. xx
