so many decisions - please help me!
I had a consultation tonight with a 2nd surgeon who I think I preferred to my first. However it has left me with so many questions!!
First surgeon said 200cc - 240cc max, round, over muscle (not anatomical due to rotation, I have a 2yr old so although I will try to be careful, I will have to do some lifting).
Second surgeon said 250cc - 300cc, round or anatomical, under or over muscle. He said if anatomical then I could go for the coated (furry?) implants so no rotation. He has told me to do rice tests, which I will (again!) and to think about sizes & placement etc.
From my own research & what I have been told by both surgeons, these are my thoughts:
Although I'm pleased I saw second surgeon I am now so confused. Can anyone offer any advice?! I am 5' 3", 9.5stone, wear 34b (but suspect I could be 32b).
Please help!!!!

From my own research & what I have been told by both surgeons, these are my thoughts:
- as I age (I am 37), going under the muscle may look more natural as my own breast tissue starts to thin/go with age.
- under the muscle may look strange when I am in gym doing weights (although tbh I don't wear skimpy gym clothes so does this really matter?). will any other normal activities make under the muscle implants look weird?
- over muscle would be less painful & possibly quicker recovery?
- if furry implants are that good, why are they not used as 'the norm'?
- I desperately want a natural, not fake look. First surgeon said round implants & over muscle would be fine, second surgeon seemed to be leaning to anatomical/under muscle.
- can you have anatomicals OVER the muscle? (I think so???)
- I have 3cm 'pinch' worth of skin/flesh in upper poles so second surgeon did definitely say I would be OK with over muscle (but still seemed to be leaning towards under).

Hi!
Just to say I had this same dilemma! I saw 4 surgeons in total but after the first 2 I was also a bit confused. First said over the muscle, second surgeon said under! But the other 2 I saw both said under too which helped - 3 against one!!
Also the first surgeon I saw told me his preferred placement was over so I wasn't entirely convinced he was going by what is best for me!!
A lot is also to do with which surgeon you trust / feel most comfortable with - when you find the right one you realise nothing any of the others said matter because he is the one you'll out your trust in.
I would definitely urge you to go and see one other surgeon at least - I know it's a pain but is a big decision!
Re the recovery - a shorter recovery period shouldn't really be a factor in which placement to choose - what's a few extra weeks of uncomfort in the grand scheme of it!! I also have children and post poned having my BA for a few years until my youngest was 5 as I was worried about the recovery. Lots of the girls have babies though and manage fine!!
Good luck - exciting you are getting closer to booking!!! Xx

Do you have empty boobs from feeding? I do and the first surgeon I saw said overs and was pushing me towards 520 overs, with 3cm pinch. The second surgeon I saw said that unders would be better for me because I wanted a natural look and because he felt that if I had overs I would need a lift in 5 years and suggested 350-400cc

Definitely get a third opinion, it might make the decision easier if its closer to one or the other.
With unders, some women find that if the do a lot of chest work at the gym, they can get some predominant muscle distortion. This is where you flex your pec, and the implant jumps. Mine does it only when I flex, and its not an issue for me, but some ladies who do a lot of chest work can get it to a greater degree. Bring your exercise regime up with your surgeon, as this can help decide on placement.
Some people say unders take longer to heal. This could be true, as you've got the muscle to heal also, but everyone is different. Once girl could be back to normal in 3wks with unders, while the next with overs could be struggling for months. I don't think this should be a deciding factor, as it will be down to personal anatomy.
Furries aren't the 'norm' a) because of shape and b) because you have to be specialised to place them. They are more conical in shape, and therefore wont suit everyone's anatomy. They'd have probably looked pretty Madonna on me. Also, due to the furry-ness being like velcro, surgeons do have to take extra courses and specialise in their placement, which is why they aren't so widely offered yet.
A natural look can be achieved with both rounds and anatomicals. During the fluffing process, rounds actually change to tear shape anyway and fill out the lower pole, so that's not a worry. Anatomicals are more for if you have a very bony, skinny chest without enough tissue to cover the implant. I bet you couldn't tell who's round or anatomical from our avi's on here (a lot of us are pouting our boobs though for the pic, so not always a 'true' representation of how natural they actually do look).
Any implant can be put in any placement. The only thing to be wary of is if a surgeon says he only does unders/overs, or he prefers to do one or the other. Then they're just looking out for themselves, rather than having your best interests at heart.
Maybe get yourself fitted pre op to work out your exact size? Or you could do it at home, measure around the band, and take the exact size, don't add 4/5. e.g. I measure 31" so wear a 32band. Then measure the fullest part of your breast, and take that number away from the first number. I measure 36, so 36-31=5. This is the cup difference, 1A, 2B, 3C, 4D, 5DD. Its not 100%, but its a good starting point.
Which surgeons/clinics did you see if you don't mind me asking? I really do think a 3rd opinion will help to steer you in the right direction. Hope that all helps!

Re: so many decisions - please help me!
Just want to add, I have the furries in the teardrop/anatomicas. The shape is just the same as a teardrop 'normal' implant, the only added benefit of a furry coating is the risk of CC and rotation is significantly reduced. Charlii is right, the only reason you dont hear about them much is surgeons have to be specially qualified to place them and they can take longer to soften. However mine are now 6 months old and very soft and jiggley!

I have subfascial anatomical overs and love them. I think my right move a little in the beginning which did freak me out but foxed into the pocket very early on. I had thin skin drooping empty post breastfeeding boobs

Re: so many decisions - please help me!
thanks for the replies!
I have seen Stephen McCulley in Nottingham, and Graham Offer at Spire in Leicester.
I have paid for both of these consultations & really cant afford to pay for a 3rd so may see if I can get a freebie somewhere.
I thought of a question I didn't ask either surgeon: when you are lying down (on your back), what happens to the implants? Is there a difference between how overs/unders/round/anatomical behave when you are lying down?! (random question I know!)

Re: so many decisions - please help me!
The Hospital Group is good if you just want a 3rd opinion. Its a free consult and direct with the surgeon, as oppose to Transform where you meed a PCC and are asked to come back at another date to see a surgeon.
When you lie flat, the shape of the implant will change, because of the distribution change. Think of a sandwich bag of water, and how the shape would change from on a flat surface to being held up etc. Thats just how an implant behaves, just not so extreme. Placement wouldnt have an effect on this, its still going to splay regardless. It would be slightly different with anatomicals, as theres not the width at the top so much, but they would still behave in the same way.

Re: so many decisions - please help me!
Try and get a 3rd opinion, mybresst only charge £25 I think. All I would say be certain the surgeon telling you you can have ocers/unders/rounds/anatomicals is saying it for the right reasons, and not just to satisfy any thoughts you might have already had to make a sale. I would want my surgeon to tell me what would be best for my body based on my brief, and I would expect him to be able to narrow it down a little more. Perhaps ask him what what he would choose out of all the possible options. Although maybe he was planning to do that at your next appointment and his first one was just covering the options. Don't forget you can go back for another appointment without having to pay more or commit.
