SILICONE IMPLANTS AND PREGNANCY
I have had mentor silicone memory gel implants for 4.5 years am reasonably happy certainly no problems.
My problem is I can't get pregnant. I have done 4 Ivf cycles with all embryos chromosomally abnornal. There is sons evidence that the plastics that leach out of water bottles (BPAs) can cause these chromosomal problems. Now I have eliminated all platic from my life and it has dawned on me that these implants could be leaching into my body. What I want to hear is from people who have silicone implants who have fallen pregnant and had babies ..otherwise I am seriously thinking about having them removed ! Cheers in advance for any replies :)

Re: SILICONE IMPLANTS AND PREGNANCY
Hi Jaybee. Let me put your mind at rest. Silicone is an inert polymer, made from silicon, oxygen, carbon and/or hydrogen. Inert means it has zero reaction with anything. It is used in most everyday objects, from cookware to medicine. If there was any danger of it having any effect on your body, it would not be medically approved for all implants, including breast, testicular, anything placed in the body.
I'm so sorry you are having troubles conceiving, it must be so hard. But I can honestly say that your implants are not having any adverse affect on you, and are not causing any fertility issues or anything else. Of course, if it's one more step you'd like to try, go ahead, but I doubt it would make any difference.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: SILICONE IMPLANTS AND PREGNANCY
Hey Charli thanks for the message .
However I fear that there is much more than the organic compunds carbon o2 and h2o in silicon. Here is one such list I found !! = very scary .
The only way to know for sure is a blood test i guess... wonder if you can get this done?
CHEMICALS FOUND IN BREAST IMPLANTS - THE COMPLETE LIST
1. Methyl Ethyl Ketone
2. Cyclohexanone
3. Isopropyl alcohol
4. Denatured Alcohol
5. Acetone
6. Urethane
7. Polyvinyl Chloride (Liquid vinyl) This ingredient was used in all medical devices made at Edwards Lab, from tubing to gel.
8. Lacquer Thinner
9. Ethyl Acetate
10. Epoxy Resin
11. Epoxy Hardener - both 10 & 11 are chemically known as glycosides Ether of Bisphenol A.
12. Amine
13. Printing Ink
14. Toluene
15. Dichloromethan (Methylene Chloride) This breaks down in the body so blood cannot carry oxygen: Metabolizes carbon monoxide poisoning. Causes CSN depression.
16. Freon
17. Silicone
18. Flux
19. Solder
20. Metal cleaning Acid
21. Lofol (Formaldehyde)
22. Talcum Powder
23. Color Pigments as Release Agents
24. Oakite (Cleaning Solvent)
25. Eastman 910 glue (Cyanoacyrylates)
26. Ethylene Oxide (ETO)
27. Carbon Black
28. Xylene
29. Hexone
30. Hexanone2
31. Thixon-OSN-2
32. Antioxidant (Rubber)
33. Acid stearic
34. Zinc Oxide
35. Naptha (Rubber Solvent)

Re: SILICONE IMPLANTS AND PREGNANCY
Honestly, I think you're reading way too much into this. "Chemicals found in breast implants" is very vague, what implants are they referring to? Like I said, silicone is inert. If you're really worried, speak to a doctor, or specifically a breast surgeon. Some of them will even do Skype chats these days. Get the facts, not what's published on the Internet.
Myself and Cookie have both had auto immune diseases, and of course the first thing you think is sh1t, did my implants cause this? Every doctor that either of us has spoken to has confirmed there is zero correlation between silicone breast implants and auto immune disease. You may find a handful of studies saying otherwise, but there is not enough proof.
Like I said, if it's really troubling you, there is always the option to remove them, but I really think you should speak with a surgeon about it first.

Well I think people see what they want to see. I am a medical professional and I often question things in everyday practice I think it'd only healthy to. You have to remember companies making breast implants are worth billions and are very powerful.
Like I said I'd like to hear from people who have become pregnant after their implants were placed ...

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are having these issues!
You may find these posts [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] of help to you regarding pregnancy after having a BA.
What is the specialist involved in your IVF treatments saying regarding the embryo's being chromosomally abnormal, would imagine this is something that they would wish to investigate further for you & hopefully find some answers.

Re: SILICONE IMPLANTS AND PREGNANCY
Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. For what it's worth, I have 3 friends who have conceived post implants. But it's all relative so I would be asking my specialist to do some research and a literature search of infertility rates in people with, and without implants, and comparing the 2. As an hcp, I would also approach a manufactuer such allergan and ask their medical information department to carry out a literature search for you. They should be able to do this for you.... I probably wouldn't tell them you're the patient, I would say you have a patient making an enquiry and therefore you'd like them to do a literature search for you. There may not be much research out there, but at least if there is it will be better controlled and reviewed versus other internet sources. Good luck x
