One week PO check up with nurse + update.
Hey ladies. . So had my one week check up today. Woke up with the WORST morning boob EVER (seriously.. when does it stop?!) But then had a wash.. changed bra and felt surprisingly ok! Until I put the dreaded band on at least!
Car journey was horrible.. every little bump was agony and every corner I felt like I needed to hold onto them! But anyway got there in plenty of time and saw a nurse (don't get to see my surgeon until 5 weeks down the line).
She asked how I was etc and was surprised I was still in so much discomfort but said everyone is different and as an 'under muscle' patient I was bound to take longer to heal. She was also surprised how much bed rest I've had and encouraged me to get moving so I didn't stiffen up! I honestly thought I was meant to be resting! But she's so right on the stiffen up bit.. I do feel a bit crippled and hunched over.
She took my dressings off and ever the pessimist I was CONVINCED she was going to say that it wasn't healing but she said my wounds looked 'beautiful' and that I was healing perfectly. She also said my incisions were very small and he did a good job getting those 400's in! I haven't actually looked at the scars yet as she put steri strips on them and said to keep the strips on for another week (and gave me spare) . But I will take them off to do my picture trail (in progress!).
She said I can drive now but I don't feel ready and that I can shower! Yippee! She said I looked really in proportion which was nice and that they were a nice size. I asked about laying down and she said if I feel comfortable then I can.. but I still dread sitting up with morning boob so have chosen to sleep slightly upright again tonight (may regret that when I wake up with numb bum).
Unfortunately. . The dreaded band must remain for another couple of weeks..but she said she wants me to be comfortable so to take it off for an hour here or there and make sure it's not too tight which I think it has been! !
I've been booked in for another check up a week today just because of how much discomfort I'm in just to put my mind at ease.
My picture trail is in progress and I'll probably be getting it finalised tomorrow and when I do so I'll put up a post if anyone wants to see.
All in all I'm happy with progress. . Apart from the pain. . And am starting to love my new assets! I even love the fact you can see my nipples when the wind blows.. the simple things eh!?
Night night all.

Kay, so pleased she was happy with what she saw and you are starting to fall in love with your new boobies :) I completely agree on the doing a few things whether it be a little walk around the garden or whatever and also great to be able to take the band off for an hour or so to relieve you from discomfort for a while.. Under the muscle will be a little longer to heal - please don't think something is wrong because you are still in pain, everyone is different! :hugs: xx

Re: One week PO check up with nurse + update.
Great update! And yes, start getting yourself moving. I'm not talking jumping jacks, but stand a little straighter, stretch a little more each day, and it'll start loosening those tight muscles and help ease the pain. But don't be 'ashamed' to still take painkillers if you're uncomfortable. And if you're not ready to drive, don't. I didn't for 3wks.
As for the band, stick with it! At least it's not 6wks like me!! I think I mentioned in another thread, but make sure it's on properly (straight, then up and over) and if it's chaffing cut the toes off some socks and thread it through for comfort!

I will def continue with tthe pain killers.. Nurse said the same and if I'm in pain I may stand funny etc..
Wow 6 weeks! I'm sure the next 2 weeks will fly by :)
Thanks tthe advice with the socks.. I am definitely going to try that! Xx

Re: One week PO check up with nurse + update.
I found recovery hard so, e days I even posted a thread saying ' is this morning boob'? Cos it was so horrible and painful, I was convinced like you, that some mornings I would be bleeding, but never was.
It's just that you have had 2 operations and that's a lot of skin, muscle and tissue that has been cut through. It takes time to heal.
I too was told I "could" drive at 2 weeks and i"could" sleep on side from a week...I still couldn't do either for almost 4 weeks. I would say 6 for the sleeping comfortably on my side.
So, it's all at diff rates.
Can't wait to see your trail, hope your feeling ok todayx

Ah just saw your post [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]!! Thanks for the reassurance!!
Yeah I know I won't be ready for a good week or so yet! I tried laying flatter last night but that didn't do me any favours as took me about 20 mins to find the courage to sit up this morning! Only reason I think I got up in the end because I needed a wee so bad! Picture trail has been started.. will hopefully finish it today! Xx

So glad your so glad your appointment went better than expected! Your boobs look great in you Avi!
I feel better once I'm up and about, I've had a few days out with my daughters this week & it's making me feel normal again :-)
I really wanna see if healing properly as I'm slightly worried about my left incision, it's sooooo sore! I have my 1 week post op tomorrow so I guess I'll find out then!

Eeek thanks girls! My bf won't even look at them at the moment I think he's a bit weirded out by the scars and slightly funny shape! I'll just have to keep them secret until I'm all healed!!
It's good to get out and about isn't it hun! Glad youre starting to feel more normal!
Honestly I felt the same about mine! I discovered yesterday that most of the pain I've got is from my bra! If I take it off the pain goes straight away. It's like m skin is sooo super sensitive that any form of contact (even my bra) hurts me! Will be thinking of you tomorrow!! X

Your avi looks lovely! Mine were so much more weird looking at one week PO!! Haha I didnt even let my boyfriend see them until they were about 3 weeks old. Really it took me about 8 weeks until I started getting confident enough to show him properly. I didnt show him the scars until 3 months when I got the tape taken off! The scars really freak me out so I don't really even look at them myself if I can help it!
Congrats though hun. Fab result so far :) xxx

Re: One week PO check up with nurse + update.
Ah, you girls are all getting you're new avi's up, they all look great!
You're skin is being super stretched at the moment which is why it's so sensitive. You can moisturise to help them, just keep it well away from the scars. It'll help with when the swelling starts coming down too, as you'll start shedding like a snake!!
My hubs saw them before even I did, I was still out cold, so he had to help the nurse wrestle me into my bra! He also took all my pics for me and helped me change. I had warned him of the frankenboob though, so he was prepared!

Hey Julie! ! Thanks lovely! Was your post op all good? Ah well we've worn them for a week.. what's another one eh :) yeah maybe.. I just wouldn't know what size to get of I got a sports bra! Can't wait to be in normal underwear! Xx
Thanks Danielle! Mine aren't massive now.. but I was very tiny to start with.. if you've tried them on and you're happy just go with it! What size do you want to be after? Have you shown your surgeon photos? That's what I went by, rather than bra size, and he knew exactly what size I needed. And I know its early days but i think he was spot on!
Thanks [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I bet you can't! It'll go quick! ! This forum has been amazing! I'm a bit addicted! You're very kind :) pain is getting better day by day!x

Yea I showed him pictures of the look I like although I want a larger cup I don't want the "fake" look. I would be happy with a dd/e
I'm sure I'll be happy not having these flat empty boobs lol

Then go with what you've chosen I say! I think that'll be great for the size you want. And you're right.. always go for the bigger if you can to avoid being disappointed :) but you definitely won't be :) it's so nice just to think (when I'm healed) that if I want to go out without a bra. . Then I can and people won't think I'm a boy lol!! X
