Holiday Insurance
Ive done a search but can't find the answer so hoping someone would be able to tell me?
Going on holiday on 26th May which will be 4 and half weeks post BA, I'm seeing my surgeon the night before I go just to make sure everything is ok but will I need to inform my travel insurance about my BA, my other half insures us through his bank usually.
We are only going to Spain for 1 week, so it's in the EU and not long haul.
Thanks x

Re: Holiday Insurance
My t&c's stare this:
If you have a pre-existing medical condition you must make a medical health declaration before each period of insurance and on each annual renewal. In addition, if there are any changes in your health or prescribed medication you must notify us and update your medical health declaration prior to booking any trip or departing on any trip. All changes must be declared to us and accepted in writing before cover can continue.
Difficult to interpret as on paper you don't have a medical condition, but I would inform them to be safe. They will probably just exclude issues related to the op.

Re: Holiday Insurance
Take a European health card with you as well. But insurance companies will do anything not to pay out. So if you don't inform them that's there excuse should something arise. Xxx

Re: Holiday Insurance
Thanks ladies, I've found an insurance company that covers BA specifically between 2 was -3 months after surgery which is good but it's asking me to state that I have fully recovered from the operation.... I'm quite sure this would be a grey area no matter what I put lol x
I do have a European health card so will take that also x

Re: Holiday Insurance
My husband works for a bank. Just asked him about the account insurance and he said your partner should ring to tell them before you go but you should be fine xx

Re: Holiday Insurance
Sarahlou I would think you'd be fine as you're past the initial recovery period but if in doubt check! I went away 6 weeks post op and didn't even think about it!

Re: Holiday Insurance
You're EHIC should cover you, I don't really interpret it as a 'pre existing condition', so long as you're not taking anything for it

Re: Holiday Insurance
I decided to take out the insurance with me only being 4 weeks post op when I go, for the sake of £20 I thought it better to be safe than sorry - puts my mind at ease if nothing else, I advised them that I had surgery for BA within 2weeks - 3 months of my trip and I have not as yet recovered from surgery x
