Nipples peeling?
5 days PO and the skin on one of my nipples is peeling, I've been moisturising them every day, thankfully they are numb still so I can't actually feel it but it's still a little worrying.
Has anyone else had this, is it normal? x

Re: Nipples peeling?
As your swelling subsides, the skin does flake.... Just keep your breasts well moisturised, but never get any moisturiser near the incision scar to avoid infection. Any moisturiser will do , doesn't have to be an expensive one.The flaking will soon disappear.XXX

Re: Nipples peeling?
Thanks mirren, good to know it's normal. I dread to imagine how sore it would be if I could actually feel it.
I'm moisturising all over except the bottoms near the incisions, using Nivea aftersun mainly, and a bit of Clarins on my nipples now as its a bit better xxx

Mine did this too! I used coco butter at first but then I discovered plain vasaline was much better! And it stops the Chaff feeling!! Xxx

Re: Nipples peeling?
You want LANOLIN - its a wound healing product and its amazing... scholl foot cream (I know this sounds crazy) has lanolin, so does carmex/blistex! Vaseline will put a barrier up and protect but it wont heal. Check your products for lanolin :) It's the biggest seller of raw materials we sell! Lidls and aldi moisturisers have been clinical proven to be the best.. even the £1.99 anti ageing has won awards! :) xx

Anything that swells will shed. Any good moisturiser will do, it'll all come away eventually. I used the tamanu balm that THG have, it was fantastic on the dry flakey skin. Sloughed it right off and left my skin baby soft.

@[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] make sure you wear SPF every single day, rain or shine, factor 20 at least.
You don't need anything more than factor 30 EVER, 1 spf protects you for half an hour, so no need to wear more than 30 because you wouldn't be in the sun another longer than 15 hours anyway!!
I would get the lidls anti ageing cream which is in a black tube. It does have spf but I cant remember the factor.
We sell a raw materials at work which has clinical trials to back it up for anti ageing, within 14 days wrinkles are reduce by 10% in a 3% solution... its £350 a kg!!!!! our most expensive raw materials by far.. If I can get some spare samples I'll send some to you.
I sent my mum some the other week and she said its good!! (she's 61) xx

That's really interesting [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I always wear factor 50 as I'm really fair skinned. Good to know I don't need it though :)

Re: Nipples peeling?
Some great ideas there ladies thanks, I've def got sudocream in the house so will try that first :-) great tip about the factor 30 sun cream too!!
We learn something new everyday:-)
I do have bio-oil and used it on the run up to my BA but it's a dry oil and just felt like I needed something more for now but I will be using it a little further down the line, maybe in a couple of weeks when my incisions have healed more xxx

Re: Nipples peeling?
Ive just realised my spelling mistakes in that... sorry I think you know what I mean..
The higher SPF the more sticky and greasy it gets which isn't needed :) xx

Re: Nipples peeling?
Ask your surgeon when you can start using something like bio oil - just because if you touch your incisions too early you may cause an infection. Mine said 6 weeks but some say 8 or even 12! x

Re: Nipples peeling?
Thanks sarahlou...my moisturiser has spf 30 but the one ive had previously for the last 10ish years only spf15. All of a sudden ive aged and my skin's dried up! Might pop to lidl at the weekend....hopefully that will save me a fortune too!!

Re: Nipples peeling?
Egg whites are amazing for a quick pick me up and a tighten.. Just whip 1 egg white up for a minute or so, and put it on your face for 10 minutes. Couple of times a week or before an important date ;) x

Re: Nipples peeling?
Bio oil, coconut oil are all fine, as long as you avoid the incision for as long as advised. The downside of the oils is that it can encourage a break out, which is inevitable due to the hormonal flux from the GA.
Re SPF, I just spent a week laying out in 40degrees with 'irish' skin and only used spf 30 twice a day, and I'm still a lovely milky white colour!
