Fed up!!
Oh ladies, I'm 9 day away from my holiday in New York and 3.5 weeks off my BA and I fell on Saturday night and broke my foot!! Literally devastated. Might have to cancel my holiday and my BA!!
All depends on whether I am in plaster. They put a cast on yesterday but I'm going back to the fracture clinic on Wednesday so hoping they just put me in a boot.
Still might cancel NY as not going to get the rest my foot needs to heal but after all this time I can't even think about having to rearrange my BA...I could cry!!

I hope so too [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] . Could your husband walk around with the boot on or did he still need crutches. I've just been up and down stairs on my bum dragging the crutches. I'm exhausted!! Xx

Hubby was around a week using crutches then was able to get around without them after that, taking it easy though. XXX

Re: Fed up!!
Ooh @goingforit really feel for you and so sorry to hear this! Have u got travel insurance so could take the hol later in year and rest up at home to get your foot better?? Hope you're not in too much pain and feel better soon. I had to wear one of those boots a few years ago when I tore a tendon in my ankle. Fingers crossed the clinic says u can still have your BA cos you would have to be resting anyways ?? Xxx

Re: Fed up!!
Keeping everything crossed for you! I can't see how it would affect your BA I guess if would just be the awkwardness of not being able to use your arms 100% with a poorly foot aswell! As long as you have hubbs there to look after you it should be ok!
Thinking of you Hun and sorry to hear such rubbish news
:-( it'll be ok!! Xxx

Re: Fed up!!
Thanks everyone for all your well wishes. Apparently couldn't have it in plaster for DVT risk and also couldn't use the crutches so really pushing for a boot on Wednesday. I'm swaying towards claiming on the holiday insurance but my husband thinks we will get upgraded to business class so we should still go...haha typical! xx

Re: Fed up!!
Ha ha but actually my ex broke his knee once. We booked a holiday flying BA longhaul and requested leg room so he could stretch out and flex as needed (this was 10+ years ago before the days of paying extra for leg room and pre booked seats). They buggered up the seat request and gave him leg room and me 8 rows behind! We only realised just before boarding when looking at ticket stubs so complained and both got upgraded to business. So you never know! If you do fly, make sure you have a permission letter just in case. Fingers crossed for you!

Re: Fed up!!
Oh god if I tell him that he will definitely want to go!
He's checked out the insurance and apparently I would need a Drs letter saying I'm not fit to fly. If I don't have a cast I'm not sure I would get that as technically could fly but it's not the kind of holiday I want to be walking around like Quasimodo on!
Spoke to the surgeons secretary yesterday and she said all would be ok for the BA if no plaster and crutches.
My appointment at the fracture clinic is at 11am tomorrow so I'll let you know what they say.
Please keep your fingers crossed xxx

Re: Fed up!!
You could get an Aircast boot. This off loads the foot by pumping air into cells so that the leg takes the weight. You have to take the air out before you take off due to the cabin pressure. You could remove it for your ba also. If you do get a boot ask for an even up to wear on the other shoe to prevent hip, knee of back pain. Hope this helps, what bad luck for you. Hope you're well soon x

Re: Fed up!!
Ok girls, I've been back and have the cast off and an aircast boot but I still can't walk on it and need crutches!
We are going to claim on the insurance and cancel New York but hopefully going to go to Dubai or Abu Dhabi for a long weekend so can get some sun and rest.
I need to go back in 2 weeks so just kept quiet about the boobs and will see what next 2 weeks bring. Hopefully I'll get the ok to put weight on it then and problem is solved.
Eeugh!! Xx
