Marks & Spencer's are very good at measuring! I've always used them ever since puberty x

Oh blimey I didn't realise there was a new measuring technique I feel out of touch lol! I don't know perhaps some of the other gals can advise, but M&S always comes to mind for me. As Boux Avenue relatively new they probably use newer techniques? Have fun getting measured!! Xxx

Re: Where's best to get measured??
Steer clear or m&s, they tend to put you in the wrong band in order to sell. Boux avenue is great because they are a specialist lingerie store rather than a high street fashion shop. John Lewis and Debenham are ok. I'd stick with Boux or an independent lingerie store.
The difference in technique is 1) being measured instead of fitted, and 2) adding the 4/5 to the underbust. This is an outdated method, used to fit more girls in a smaller range of sizes. For example, I'm fitted 32E in bravissimo, but if you added 5 to my 31bust, you'd get 36, probably B!

I went to boux avenue and got measured, very helpful and they got out every different style bra to try on to see what suited me best. X x

Boux Avenue was RUBBISH for me in Leeds! - They put me in a 32DD and I told them: one it was too tight on my boobs and 2 it was too loose on the back and I didn't feel supported, she told me my new boobs would shrink from swelling still so would be perfect.... ha ha I don't think so!
I think I'd go M&S out of the 3 places you have mentioned.
What I found from my research online last night, most everyday bra shops only go up to a 30E (if they do 30 at all)... I struggled to find the F or FF. John Lewis had the widest collection, I love JL.. I just don't know what their fittings are like though xx

Re: Where's best to get measured??
Nope they measured me with a tap measure, and she even said 'ooo 28inches so you'll be a 30 or 32'.. never saw a 30! - it may have just been the lady that was doing it, or the store I was in! x

Re: Where's best to get measured??
The lady measured underneath my boobs I measured a 27 inches, boobs measured 32, she said try on a 30E and it fitted perfectly. I also fit a 32DD, depends on fit of bra. Did the lady measure with the new technique?
Bravissmo I got measured a 28F x x

Re: Where's best to get measured??
She didn't measure over the top at all - she just looked at them and said DD.
At bravissimo she looked at me and said 30FF.. then felt all around and said 30 was perfect but slightly too big in cup!
I think I was most disappointed because I even said... this feels loose!
I think I would go again, just with a different woman.
As I was getting into the bras I could hear her talking about my boobs to the lady outside?!?!

Re: Where's best to get measured??
Boux do bring out a tape measure, but they then fit it...I had fab service and was fitted in the right size in Westfield shepherds Bush. Maybe it just depends on who you get. But they certainly shouldn't be telling you 'you'll shrink into it', that's a sales push!!
Have a look online at all the fitting guides, figleaves is a good one. Then when you know how a bra is supposed to fit you, you can go to as many stores as you like until you're happy! if you like, take a quick measure at home too, so you have a rough guide. Remember not to add anything, take the exact numbers, so I'm 31/36-37, the difference is 5/6, so that comes to 32DD/E. You take the difference from the rib size, not the band size.
I would really recommend getting to a bravissimo at some point, they really are the best. Take a day trip to one!

Re: Where's best to get measured??
Independent stores are great. I went to one and she didn't use a measure, just looked at them and felt around where band would sit. Fitted me with a 30f and a bit later went to bracissimo who said exactly the same! However I had a good experience in m&s too....fitted in with a 32dd and despite if obviously being different, I knew what's too tight/loose and how it should fit so I wear 32dd or 30e in m&s as obviously they come up different. In the same way clothing does too!

Re: Where's best to get measured??
I got measured at Marks and Spencer, and kept my bra on, is this normal?
His was about 2 years ago, my ma forced me to go as was sick of hearing me moan about not needing to even wear a bra as I'm so small!
She said 34b, which surprised me, was sure she was going to say a, but again, I had a bra on so?
is this normal, would of thought to get an accurate size you would need to be bra less! ?
I wouldn't go there again, although we don't have a bra is sumo or vs where I live. Would have to go meadowhall maybe. ...

Re: Where's best to get measured??
When I was fitted recently in m&s she asked me if I was happy to remove bra, which I was. She measured my band but I'm pretty sure she just guessed my cup size, made me try one on and then fitted me to the next cup up as her guess was too small. But given the choice definitely take a trip to bravissimo!

Re: Where's best to get measured??
Most leave it on to be honest. They should look at what you're wearing, and be able to tell if it's too big/small. And the real witchcraft is in the ones who just guess!
Take a look at my link I posted today in 'on the net', it's the story of 2girls getting measured at rigby and peller, John Lewis, and m+s.
